I only saw it there because the poster had all of 7 posts and was whining, so I went to post history and saw the original with 0 replies. *shrug*
EDIT: lolz, just checked it again and now has 8 replies. it looks, from my broken german, like she's being told the exact same thing over there that she's been told here.
sure........
To answer you question no you don't have to play beta but if you have friends they going to to understand the game more and level there craft and level there jobs more then you. Because even tho it's a beta our Chars going to be in the beta so everything you do in beta would be save so pretty much we play the game before anyone get it at release sure we have to deal with bugs and so on but it still the game.
But it this way if your friends get into the beta and so do you but you end up not playing you going to lose 3+months of work that they be doing and learning how to play the game but at the end it's up too you.
Doesn't matter if you "like" the system or not. Files cannot be transfered while being used, that's just how it works.
this. How you suppose to trasfer files to a new pc if it's currently in use ? How you can format an HD if you're using it ? They can't let us play 1.0 because they can't transfer database files while we are playing. And btw, even if they can tranfer databases while running, the trasfered information would be outdated...
Ya if you characters get move to beta early on then yes you can play beta with your 1.0 and everything you do in the beta would be save, i don't see a reason for them deleting everything you done in beta when playing ffxiv 2.0 beta is like playing 1.0 beta for over 1year we was playing beta for lol so it's pretty much the same thing just with 2.0. Now every new player who join the beta i'm sure there char would not be save because it's not a real account it's just beta account.
I can understand that being the case possibly for the final stages of the beta. Since they need to test out if our character data transferred properly.
But for the entire beta that is just not feasible. Imagine the rollbacks they'd have to do if somehow some smart players found a gil-dupping trick and didn't report the bug because they could keep the gil they exploited.
If anything, I can imagine they'll allow us to build a character in the Beta, and then keep that character's model if you've grown accustomed to it.
But hey, I could be wrong, I don't know how betas work~
They have to shut down the servers at some point.
Period.
If they let people continue to play the 1.0 game while the transfer was taking place, that person would lose all the progress they made in the month during the transfer. 1.0 is ending, deal with it.
