Opinions on Crystal Tower: Labyrinth of the Ancients and Syrcus Tower

Current LotA still has mechanics that make use of having 3 different alliances, which I like, and ST exists.

While one of my issues with them is that ilvl sync/potency creep makes you cut through the raids like a hot knife through butter, my biggest issue is that the current lvl 50 job kits are so barebones that you'll be half-asleep while doing so. It feels even worse if you run one of them on a job that wasn't designed with lvl 50 content in mind.

SE could easily lower the max ilvl for LotA and ST. Leave WoD for now where it is as this one still can get messy. Ilvl 90 for LotA and ilvl 110 for ST would provide more of a challenge and put it closer to when it originally came out. I know some people will scream at the top of their lungs saying it is too hard but shouldn’t these ARs at least provide some sort of challenge? I don’t think it would hurt.

Another option is to make HW, SB and EW ARs mandatory. HW for sure with the story. SB has some links to the story. EW is all about the lore in ARR. I like variety. The thing is people will cry about this as well. HW and SB are tied to a relic in ShB so if you are even considering doing the relic, you will need them anyway.

ShB is sort of the black sheep of ARs as it does not really add anything story wise. DT I have yet to pass judgement on, but some speculate it relates to the 11th shard/reflection.

I would much rather do sub 50 or 50 cap dungeons over CT. Im deeply sick of getting them instead when AR roulette has some of my favorite instances.

Bottom of the barrel trash and its especially insulting when no one is new to it.

I would be in favor of reworking the Crystal Tower Riads. I would also be in favor of making some of the other alliance raids MSQ required considering how much world building is locked behind them (not you Nier raids).

The issue is not the raids, it's the Ilvl sync, CBU3 needs to halve the max Ilvl to minimum Ilvl gap for all normal content full stop.

So much of this game is ruined by every player having maximum item level, phases are skipped, mechanics pointless, healers becoming redundant.

This is the reason why main scenario roulette even still exists. Rather than reworking it to be normal dung/trials the Devs were scared of upsetting the crowd of mouthbreathers who run mindless tedium everyday because god forbid their dailies grind gets extended by 3.25% and they come close to actual challenge in their lives.

Nier needs to stay because they are the best alliance raids with the best fashion, especially since it's one of the few raid series where it is PvP-enabled.

Seriously, I had a run of Puppet's Bunker today where, during the Superior Flight Units boss, one alliance pointed their stack marker towards my alliance, cue to the entire alliance dropping, like all 8 in one shot, I actually saw it about to happen but too late to reposition, and just started laughing, I wish we had more mechanics where this kind of stuff can happen.

I mean, yeah the raids themselves are great, but the story doesn't add anything to FFXIV's world.

All 3 are fundamentally flawed due to them being the first of their kind in the game and basically never being updated, and also being a requirement for Story is horrid for their state. Are they fine to an extent? Yes, they sure are, the layouts and level designs are neat but they have several mechanical issues throughout the bosses and the age is surely showing. They need to rework the fights to at least some extent throughout like 70%/80% of the encounters, in-between fights included that aren't really bosses, plus make the ILvL ceiling a little lower so fights aren't destroyed very fast.

I do have very specific pointed ideas and points in general about each but unless people want to see that I'm just leaving this as is.

I would rather people not be locked out of MSQ or an entire roulette because they don't want to run a glorified crossover event that still has timegates that also only exists because Yoko Taro will put his characters in any franchise that gives him money.

Why should you be allowed to run a roulette if you being in that roulette is actively making it harder for that roulette to fulfil its purpose of helping someone queuing directly for nier
