Why not improve the 3 initial city-states?

tbf I never felt that the starter cities were that bad, even in ARR to DT updated. My fav is LL but I started in Ul'dah for BLM job, and it was more than fine, esp since they later added a teleport to Sapphire Lane was the 1 thing I wished I had before when I started.

The starter cities and the 3 starter zones I would love to see expanded, give us the areas we lost in 1.x back and add some of the old open world dungeons back in. I hate that these areas are just done after an expansion. If nothing else, make them the new Eureka and Bozjas or add them for some new and fun side activities. Getting rid of beast tribes were a mistake because the could easily just use beast tribes to make a FFXI Campaign-like battle that is map wide using expanded areas of thanalan, coerthas, mor dhona, and such. But nope, everyone needs to be friends!

Leave them as is please.

The Beast tribes still exist? They were renamed into Tribal Societies DT has the Pelupelu and the Lizard folks for gathering.

Had nothing to do with PS3, it was also to not be as jacked as 1.0 cities. Now they'd have to redesign a lot of it because the maps don't exactly gel together if you actually try to connect things. This won't add revenue to the game either.

I would love this and think investing time and energy into revamping the starting cities would be time well spent. They don't need to make sweeping changes, but for one, making them one instance instead of two would make them far easier to traverse, which is a problem for newer players. Besides, we use these cities all the time, so they should be regularly updated. Revamping them might make this easier to do.

Which is why I said "getting rid of the beast tribes" because everyone needs to be friends. It was a bad idea, ruined so much potential. And I will continue to call them beast tribes forever more. idc how SE wants to virtue signal

I go for the premise that isn't just a matter of 'glue both ends', there's obviously work to be done, maybe re-imagining those connections a little bit. Not only that, but some actual moving of existing stuff would be great as well. Stuff like putting Gridania and Ul'dah main aetherytes closer to the Market Board areas, for example. It's really weird - in Limsa - going to the Aftcastle, that you can have a direct view of the main plaza Aetheryte, yet... it's empty, when in reality it's full of players.

And about the revenue, honestly? Can we even say that when they dedicated a ton of resources to rework a big portion of the ARR dungeons? When just the Duty Support would be probably enough. How about graphical improvements to ARR zones? That doesn't feel made for revenue either, considering that we rarely have objective reasons to actually go there.

Could go together with actually making the new maps in next expansion packs larger and with intresting things to discover etc.

Also the housing areas could get an proper update there is whole community "living" in there.
