If it does confirm anything it's that having "Mare Lamentorum" in your Adventure Plate, and possibly even the letter "C" with some slash mark near it (if you know, you know) is probably going to be treated less tolerably from now on.

I have no issue with his response. It is logical.

I think that's a good thing people had a weird culture of synching with strangers and even I got random tells about mare from people I don't know, about mare with nothing in my profile to indicate if I have one.

People were 100% too comfortable about sharing it all over the place.

[srs] I think it's integral to point out that this statement is in regards to them "going after other mods like (uhh idk man someone help me out here)" and not "using mods in general." If they confirm you are using any mod whatsoever, even a mod that gives chocobos a tophat or something innocuous, you will absolutely face a temporary ban at the very least, as per usual. I worry that some might take this as Yoshi P okaying mods outright, but he is basically reaffirming the "if we don't see it, we don't know, and we're not looking for it, so don't put us in a position where we have to" a la "dad who tries to be chill but mom is neurotic"

He's a gamer and a community guy, but he has immense fiduciary responsibilities that he's legally required to observe. He will protect the game and the business as he is required to, but he is trying to give a singular inch in this case, and I respect it, but also think that people should consider the deeper meaning very carefully before they proceed with anything, as they should in all aspects of life.

So part of the reason SE is doing this is because the cash shop isn't as profitable. Unbelievable.

Oh yes, absolutely, if a player gets reported for mod usage or it’s otherwise proven, they’ll definitely ban them. That’s the distinction between going on a witch hunt and acting only when forced to. The whole post is him confirming there’s no witch hunt against individuals using mods on their screen only, but once proven or reported, he / his team is forced to act.

It is very funny to me that he used examples of Cash Shop gear and Ultimate weapons.

I do not know anyone that genuine care about either. I would argue not even the Ultimate raiders care since they never use the Ultimate weapons they got.

The clear and prestige being more worthy than those visual pollution.

Heck, "The Necromancer" title has more prestige than those things, c'mon.

So the previous theories of the mod getting banned to cut down on minors being exposed to adult material are at least somewhat true then.

Im glad to know my position of "SE will actually do nothing but finger wag about mods again without solving the actual issue" was correct.

Hopefully, mod users will learn to keep this stuff to themselves before they receive the next finger wagging two years from now.
