Is it possible that Aether is still in lockdown as a last-ditch, futile attempt to save Dynamis?
As others have noted, Aether is noticeably quieter, so in terms of active accounts the "congested" status is puzzling.
Regardless, it's normal. When I started the game, waiting 40 minutes for an MSQ duty as a tank was normal.
Waiting ages for alliance raids has often been the case. And we are talking about a high-level alliance raid; the higher level it is, the less people in queue for Alliance Raid roulette that meet the level requirement.
While that may be so now, we just had Occult release and Forked Tower and at the time of that release, the area outside was very busy until just the last week or two. Of course, lots of people would be traveling to Aether as well since they do that for raids. And they didn't review it since May. So it makes sense.
Yeah, part of the reason I even traveled to aether was I actually did try to wait and see if it would be 25 minutes, it actually got to 30 mins with no pops. Although the run on aether was worth it, as dark lord did drop a piece of skillspeed gear I wanted.
There should be no congested servers now when less people are playing the game. It's bs and I think we all know it.
The best way to remember we are in a patch lull: Mogtomes. Usually when this event starts, the ones who barely play will go into hibernation around this period, just periodically logging in to keep their house (if they have one). Congestion is determined on patch weeks, so when a new patch comes out, it's not hell trying to do anything.
100% this.
It's SE trying two things:
1) To make the failure that is dynamis not be a failure. Give it up. It's a failure.
2) To try and pretend somehow the servers are all overflowing with people even though they are emptying out at an alarming rate.
Typical SE response. Stick head in sand and pretend things are collapsing around them. Maybe if they just do nothing like they always do, the problem will magically go away yet again?
The only thing going away at this rate is XIV.
