You are just proving my point more and more kid.
Name one case where a mismatched accessory in the glamour plate results in something that is not allowed in the portrait.
Edit: I take it you have nothing to say on the actual topic. I didn't ask for help. I tried to get it back on topic, but you ignored the issues and created your own narrative. I have been dealing with this since the feature was added and have done all that you have and more.
all gearset portraits are stored locally on ur harddrive. Every time u join a duty - ur portrait is being uploaded, and verified. They check stuff and check if u did not alter it with 3rd party software.
That's a good thing to check for, however it is clearly checking a lot more than that, and being tripped up by ingame items that I own being replaced by other in game items that I own. Is there any ingame item that is not allowed in a portrait?
This could have been simpler if they weren't so stingy with server side data.
You can also transfer portraits between characters, for all the good that will do. When I make new alts I copy over a lot of my character folder so I don't have to redo hotbars and UI settings, and end up with 40 portraits the game needs to check if this alt is the right race, right sex, right skin color, right gear, and right job before it gets to the glams.
If your portrait were on the very edge of being able to be saved, a different item *could* push it over the edge. Probably not, but I could see on some of mine a different shaped weapon potentially doing something like that by pushing the camera around or maybe blocking too much of my character's face in a way that triggered the check. Possibly a game update might have subtly changed the acceptability check as well.
I also have one portrait for the life of me I can't get it to inherit the right weapon--the glam plate it uses is has a paladin weapon on it but it's a dark knight portrait and it's constantly picking up the wrong weapon glam even if I make sure I have the right weapon glam on first before trying to edit it. No idea why I can't fix it, so I've given up on it. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what's going on with the portraits and they've added much more informative error messages, but that one's just a lost cause.
Honestly the UI of this game as a whole needs some sort of a modern consultancy.
I find it really weird that (taking OC's vendor as an example) these are all separate menus:
Silver coins gear
Silver coins battle items
Silver coins other
Gold coins battle items
Gold coins other
instead of just Silver and Gold and inside you'll find tabs for all of those. The raid vendors turns out to be a chaotic mess of different menu options by the end of the expansion. I remember as a new player looking at that and getting really overwhelmed not sure where to start at.
I've never tried sharing or swapping portrait files, but I guess there could be job restricted poses if someone did. So far I have not seen any item affect the camera as far as moving it. Obviously I can't check every single item, but I'd like to know if anyone finds one. As far as I've seen it wants most of your face within the boundaries of the photo and that it is at least slightly looking toward the camera. But as you zoom out the boundaries get smaller. It seems your face can be completely obscured by any item, even your own body. I know if I'm sharing a plate I can't have a weapon on it, or else it messes with the jobs that don't match the weapon, I gotta manually glam it when I get a new one. Before I figured that out those are the only cases where it was related to something that isn't allowed, and not that the wrong weapon was in the portrait, just that the weapon in the plate, did not match the job. If we ever got enough plates it would solve several of problems.
I'm not gonna get into what you can get away with, but there is not much limitation, and any limitation is also going to limit non-suggestive portraits.
But none of the times I've had a problem has it been something related to "suggestiveness." Just things that didn't match, not things that are not allowed.
