Not only that but I think they removed the ability to walk towards your screen by pressing back. I think it just backsteps you like WoW. So yeah they nerfed the animations.
In this link you can see he takes a few steps backward and the character does the awkard "MMO backstep" instead of the nice mocapped inertia turn we have now.
/sigh
I hope this is just the early version of the game and that it will return for 2.0.
If it's one thing I love about this game than anything else, is the fluid and realistic movement of the character. To me, it gives the character weight and dynamic.
Why go through all that work for motion-capture, if we're going to end up moonwalking all over the place?
The backwards movement is what disturbed me the most that I didn't even notice the inertia. I really hope this is just an early build and that they will add the 360° movement we currently have on the live version in a future build.
If the gameplay is better than it is now, I could really care less. But I assume it's just because of it being an early build and all. ;P Otherwise I think it'll be like a previous poster said, being able to turn it on and off possibly. Anything that takes away from server lag is cool for me. If they can keep it in without jeapordizing that, that's cool too.
One of these:
- The system isn't finished and they have yet to add transition animations.
- That's a setting that they have turned off.
- The feature has been removed completely due to better performance (animation lag?).
- The feature was low priority and time simply didn't allow for it to be added in again.
The backpedling is rather disturbing. It seems to be worse when something is targeted. Everything else looks awesome! Hope people are right when they say it's a matter of early build and will be fixed for release.
