Is version 2.0 really coming out before 1-1-13

Hmm this sucks! So Let's say it does come in Jan at the earliest. We get 1.23b around aug 30, That's almost 5 months with no new content! Idk if this is accurate cause if so its gonna be a boring rest of the year.

Well dont forget the other PDF where it says October/november free trial period on PC... PS3 Beta. And PS3 release in january 2013.

i think the pc version will be released before PS3 version

Think about it this way: It's actually 5 months where we can finish the content that will no longer be available in 2.0. Also I think the servers are going down when the closed beta starts, not when the open beta starts. So that's actually end of September/early October going by what Mijin linked above. So yeah, October to January the game should be down which actually only leaves us less than 2 months to finish anything not available in 2.0.

They won't shut the servers down untill the 2.0 Open-Beta otherwise not everyone will be able to play FFXIV.

1.23 & Closed 2.0 beta's will run side-by-side and 1.23 will be turned off around 2.0 Open-beta.

I don't think they'd be stupid enough to close 1.23 down and 1/2 the playerbase doesn't get into the beta, they risk losing 20k subs or so.

They said 1.0 will not run side by side with 2.0 once it goes into Beta -- unless of course SE changed their mind, it's not a question of intelligence, which they would actually be smart to close down 1.0 during 2.0's beta, it's more of a matter of efficiency; Why not bring the two teams together for the final push?

They already said it will take awhile to convert 1.0 > 2.0 data and they don't want us updating during the process.

Yes -- we already knew for about a year now that 1.23 is the final 1.0 Patch.

Well then haha that is really weird to leave a game up and running for that long with no updates..

Surely they must have something else up their sleeve :o

Let's see.
According to this 1.0 will end around the end of September to Early October as it will go into "Beta" (A closed beta but still a beta). This kind of goes along with what was expected.
This closed beta 1 will run about a month (typical). In which case Closed beta 2 will come about. (Winter)
I don't see where this leads to the 1.0 servers closing in January as Beta starts around the end of September. The question is not when the server for 1.0 will go down but when we will have access to our characters again. If the 1 month to transfer is true, then possibly Closed beta 2 is when the 1.0 player base will start to rejoin.
This would make sense as the 2nd closed beta would be to test the higher instanced content (crystal tower, etc) that new characters (Closed beta 1) would not be able to reach.

Open beta would be the marketing push (he try out open beta you will love it). Possibly being that open beta is available to all purchases of the product or pre-orders.

"Q: When will Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 launch?
A: I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the Chian server will launch later."


So in the end it appears we have about another month and a half as expected.

That's what I was saying, though apparently some think that the servers will be up until the Open beta begins. They never really specified. All we know is that the data transfer could take up to a month which would coincide with closed beta 2 at the earliest. I dunno, I think we need more info before we can say when they're really going down.
