I am also in Austin Texas with Spectrum.. Sounds like an issue with how the data is transferring through their ISP. I even did a Trace Route to the NA Servers and around the 5th ping, it became to have time out request. So it has something to do with how the connection is going through Spectrums towers to the servers.

Updating. 7:00am and the problem is still not resolved. Still getting the 2002 when trying to connect to the US/NA Data Center

I'm in the Central Texas area using Spectrum as my ISP. I'm not using a VPN, and my house isn't really set up to have more than one wired connection so I'm on WiFi. Every time I try to connect to the NA Data Centers it takes too long to connect and eventually times me out with a 2002 error, and it's only the NA Data Centers that do this. I tried connecting to the EU Data Centers and got on without any problems. And it's not my internet personally, since I can connect to everything else, both on this computer and on every other device without any problem.

Are you using a VPN? Normally no, but i used one to connect
Are you using a wired or wireless connection? Wireless, modem is in another room
At what point do you get disconnected and/or are unable to connect? I was queuing for vanguard
How often does the issue occur? every time i try logging in without a vpn
Internet Service Provider: Spectrum
Region/State: Texas
All steps taken to resolve the issue
I tried restarting the modem and router, I also tried rebooting my pc. I have connected with a VPN, every time i try without a VPN i can't connect.

As I've pointed out in the NTT Megathread, this has been a consistent issue with a certain few nodes under the NTT ISP network.

This is a recent snapshot of the servers calming down, but earlier tonight--it looked more like this:

This isn't an issue with Spectrum, AT&T, or anyone's ISP specifically. This is an issue with NTT (the server provider for Square Enix) and their server nodes in the Sacramento / San Jose area. It's been an on-going issue for the past year. It's an issue that's beyond Square Enix's control and solely on NTT to address their bad network infrastructure.
Unfortunately, if the issue comes back up again, your best bet is to seek out a VPN / Routing Service with Exitlag, Mudfish, or your preference.

@Votraftur - can we get an update on the DDoS? It doesn't seem like it's been resolved and maybe SE needs to update everyone that it's still an issue. IMHO it's still happening. last three days have been painful to do anything (even crafting) without disconnects.
