Yes because the story failed to explore this obvious question and many others.

We have them, but its called "return to home point". But what would be nice is if they just gave us the reraise spell. Give it a 3 or 5 minute timer or something so you need to recast and only let healers have it.
Maybe with the power of a regulator we can forget DT ever happened.
I think an actual interesting question they could grapple with the regulators is that I’m sure there is a huge portion of eorzeans, domains and norvandtanians who would willingly sacrifice their soul to provide a backup to the WOL just in case something went wrong given how much the WOL had done for people
How would the WOL respond to someone willing to give up their life and their soul to them in order to potentially help the WOL in the future
The new writer is gleefully taking notes. "Ah yees yeees.. stick a regulator on the WoL and remove any sense of character, self-preservation, motivation and agency from the people in Hydaelyn and make them WoL back-up batteries with Smile playing on the backround"
As much of a meme (I hope) this thread is, it sickens me.
You wouldn't want a regulator though, because if you used that method upon death you would come back weaker, since it functions with regular souls and the WoL's is considerably denser after additional Rejoinings. You'd go from The WoL to the Wol We Have At Home.
If you'd want a denser soul you'd be in the same predicament that electric horse catgirl is in, since doesn't she need your denser soul for her own regulator purposes?
They should throw us a curve ball, and have Alexandrians be the gathering society, and let us get like a fake regulator glamor item from them.
Since the story has made pretty clear that what matters and constitutes a person is memories and not the soul (which is just an energy vessel, whether being cleansed in the aetherial sea or artificially), then yes?
You're not killing anybody by using souls stored within regulators. The real issue that the story brought up with Alexandrian society is how unsustainable their system is, and how it draws souls away from the aetherial sea and the natural system without giving back (and also required even more just to keep the endless/matrix online).
I'm sure a replica one will show up as a fashion accessory sooner or later. If you could change the glows color too, that could be fun..
A real one though, no thank you..
