Is anyone else not really enjoying themselves?

If I have to be honest with myself, yeah, I logged off after reaching the last map, i think lv100 msq or lv99, I cant remember, nor do I care any longer for the msq.
It was so boring and annoying to get through to that point that I just said this is not worth it.

The cat annoyed me to no end, hogging every possible screen time, and most of the other character seems to be forced there, and just a card board cutout, no proper development at all, and all for the sake of duty support or there to compliment the cat..

I have always believed this game to be story driven first, and it just shat all over whats been built to get here, and I just no longer care about anything else anymore when the main story falls apart right in my face.

Its probably not a big deal for people who focus on battle content only, or for people who can just skip story and do battle content.

I think I'll need a good few month break from the game, see if I want to come back just for battle content or not, maybe just wait for 8.0 class redesign and then come back, but I don't know how am going to give a crap about the story after this lol.

I'm just waiting for the new 24man and 8man raid, as well as the new Eureka/Bozja zone, could be fun.

But to be honest i'm numb to the feeling of disappointment at this point so i can't really judge.
I'm a DRK main since heavensward who cares more about class identity and gameplay rather than shiny visual and potency numbers.
So at that point i stopped caring about a lot of stuff.

Yupp, but let's be honest.

There is no way in the 7th layer of hell that CBU3 will change things up.
Unless there is an incentive, they will continue to repeatedly deliver us the most formulaic and basic content they can think of.

It's good that they made some improvements to the encounter design in normal modes after the snorefest in EW.

8.0 will supposedly have a job redesign, after complains how 'samey' the jobs feel.
Maybe they will also put a more capable writer in place who understands how to tell a compelling story with a visual medium works.

The Story Kind of demotivated me completely to do anything in The Game after i finished it - which is sad because i enjoyed ff14 in The past.

They're likely going to be pressured into doing something with how heavily SE relies on income from XIV, though I don't exactly think it'll be good for the game. The reflexive thing for corporations in this kind of situation is focusing on increased monetization, not quality.

This feeling is grief, and grief is a process with many stages and it needs some time. Do not force yourself, but do not write off the whole thing either. If you must, then take a break, allow your grief and emotions of disappointment to settle. Then, when you feel up to it again, come and just hunt some hunt marks in the pretty new zones, do some side quests (already found a whole number of rather fun ones), play the dungeons again without the burden of story. See how you feel after that.

I feel the same. Haven't played in two weeks and I am not coming back. After nearly 11 years I don't consider this my main game anymore. Reading up on the forums every couple days is where my curiosity ends and strangely I have no desire to play again.

I think with Dawntrail something in me finally clicked and I realized this game isn't for me anymore. That's fine though, my backlog on Steam got me covered - there's always a better game waiting for you if you aren't having fun.

Other than that I enjoy summer and knowing I wont force myself to do X in XIV to "get my money's worth" is a very positive side effect. I might come back and play for a bit in 7.55, to gauge my interest for 8.0, but if past games are any indication I'm most likely done for good.

I still like the game. Currently leveling my crafters.
Though being retired from raiding, I'm just enjoying it casually from my proverbial rocking chair. :'D

I‘m in the same boat.
Mind you I still have stuff to do and am kinda motivated but by far not as much as before.

The story left me pretty angry.
The lore is interesting but so much brushed aside to have Wuk Lamat and her peace talk in the center that I don‘t know if Square will actually build on it.

I was always of the mind the MSQ will be good even with the voidquestline because that at least did let us explore the void finally in it’s real form.
But after DT I don‘t really trust them anymore.
Right now I‘m only thinking aboutbhow they will sideline my character next or how they will push Wuk Lamat in the patches (I wouldn‘t even be surprised if she will be in the raid stories).
That demotivates me so much I haven’t even done the second Ex trial yet.
I know how you feel.

I kinda lost faith in the storytelling ability of them and actually do not look forward to the patches.

Maybe they will pull the fingers out of their backside and will get me back but if not then I will maybe leave the game for good because the thing I find most important is not there anymore.

I don‘t want my character to be useless, I don‘t want them to be just there not doing anything.
Call me whatever you want with that but I will die on the hill that the WoL being a big part of the story is what did make FF14 different from other MMORPG‘s.

Even the damn wandering minstrel was just calling us Wuk Lamats sidekicks more or less.
Screw them for that.
