That's SE for you. Their storywriting (and arguably gameplay mechanics) for the offline titles have gone down the crapper in recent years, but their CGI skills always seem to continually improve. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere years ago that they deliberately hire the best people in the business as often as they can.

I disagreed. I think the gameplay and story writing are not bad. I'm sure they tried a turn based game before they decided to go with the ff13 battle system during their internal tests. The story writing, it was purely decicions due to the technological advancements. They decided to go with the future route instead of revisiting the medieval era, which they will revisit again, I'm sure

I remember clearly the original announcement for this game before it was FFXIV. Yeah, it looked like a kind of isometric view strategy type game with big party sizes. ... It was a very long way away from where it ended up.
