I have only fought that tree once and honestly, i can't tell what he does other than get a few hits in, sleep, and run after someone else. He's moving around so much that it's hard to stay on any one side of him. Doesn't help that there's not that big of an arena to plan positioning tactics.
Rotate featherfoot and decoy on the tree, and burn it down. Featherfoot and decoy seperate will each evade 1 pinecone bomb, just kite it until it moves to the next person. BLM works great for this, due to having featherfoot/decoy available as well as ranged casts and blizzard for heavy.
Both the stone golem and the tree do not seem to be able to be stunned, but you can definetly stick bind or heavy on them making kiting really easy.
Just gonna throw this out there for what it's worth:
Concerning the Golem, it seemed like more hate was generated by cures. The most common hate pulls on the Golem were White Mages, people who we rarely ever have hate issues with in our group. At one point the mere act of using Second Wind alone pushed my hate up a level. May or may not be true or worth looking into but that's just something I noticed on the one run we did against the golem.
