Thats all this is.. the actual release date has been delayed... which honestly happens with EVERY FF title... We should be happy they gave us anything at this point... would you rather the game not be here at all until PS3? I am glad I can get into the world now...

You can rest assured this game will be out for the PS3 it will just be a question of when.
Im guessing then the subscription fees will kick in for console and PC players around the same time.
As for the suggestions that the current generation of consoles is becoming obselete!..maybe in around five years or so, Dev teams are still learning how to get the most out of the PS3 (remember when Gran Turismo came out for the PS1?) graphically it blew everyones faces off but it took Polyphony Digital years to develop and get the most out of the Machine.
They will port this game as soon as possible and as soon as they have a product worth porting which i believe theyre working on at the moment.

only 5% of the developers today have any idea of how to use 100% of the processing power of the PS3 its no where near done.

Consoles will never live up to a current, full featured gaming desktop.

That being said, I do agree that the PS3's full potential hasn't been tapped, even if it's full potential is short of the full potential of a current PC. Do I think we'll see a PS3 release? I'm not sure, I'm on the fence. I think any smaller company at this point would've pulled out, but SE's got a lot of clout and money, and I could well see them pulling through.

from what SE said the game is already made for the ps3, minus them tweaking it due to the changes. They are waiting till the pc version is improved.
Personally I think they have a great plan set in motion. All they need to do (mother nature being more forgiving now) is to set in motion their plans.
I kinda hope they have a welcome ps3 event. Maybe along side of a welcome back event. Just some fun activities to do like a carnival with mini games. Such as goldfish thing and a shooting range. And ppl can buy yukata. I would so play a lalafell if they had cute robed yukata. (cutness overload)

this right here is the truth behind it all

they could release it for ps3 right now, but why would they, they wanna make sure that when it hits ps3, it can live up the the hype it was supposed to have originaly.

expect it later this year for sure, its coming, and unless 14 somehow gets canceled altogether(which wont happen) then there is a 110% chance that ps3 will still get it

In an interview (to lazy to look it up) Yoshi P said they were thinking of having a Welcome back to Eroza theme when the PS3 version is released. For SE to get a second chance at releasing this game is huge. Not many companies get this. So i wouldn't worry about IF the PS3 version will be arriving, It will. It's SE second chance to get people to play and get some people back that quit.

Exactly this. It will come out, it's just a matter of when.

About the PS4... I'm pretty sure the PS4 will be a 3d console, I remember (I think from E3 2010) one of the Sony guys mentioned their next console will be designed with their 3D TVs in mind (Sony is the big pusher of 3D TVs). Based on this, I don't think it's going to be a 'PS3 killer' but rather something that will co-exist alongside the PS3 and other consoles. Just like the 3DS, it's not replacing the DS/DSi, but rather coexisting. I wouldn't worry about the PS3 dying or XIV PS3 having a short life, it will come.

If you're worried about having to wait too long and don't enjoy playing on your laptop, then just upgrade the PC. PCs will always outdo consoles when it comes to gaming, if you have any interest in PC gaming outside of XIV (other MMOs, FPS, or RTS games) then definitely upgrade. Otherwise, just wait and deal with the lag. =/
