Bookers ruin the experience.

There are plenty of people who leveled their jobs without a skip who are missing knowledge on some things and we've been having this topic come up for years.

First it was leveling in FATES.
Then it was leveing in PotD.
Then it was leveling in Bozja.
Now it's job skips.

People are going to learn their class or not learn their class and how they got there doesn't matter. And there are different levels of where it matters. Being optimal in a dungeon? It doesn't matter. A basic rotation and some basic behaviors (like tank stance) and the party can get through things without major issues. Being optimal in Savage? Necessary so you can make the dps checks and eventually to possibly skip tricky mechanics as you gear up. I've had people in dungeons who didn't know some things. I try to help in a kind and patient manner where possible. Even inject a little humor sometimes. I have a "Help! Help! I'm being oppressed, save me tank!" macro and that's gotten a few chuckles and usually an "Oh crap mb forgot stance". And there are the random ones that will keep doing things that make it difficult even when you do try to help. At that point we can just either leave and eat the penalty or just try to make it through things. But those instances have been very rare in my 10 years of playing. Most people I've met are genuinely trying. They might need a little knowledge or encouragement and we can usually get through things okay once they have the piece they may be missing. Or the party can adjust as needed.

I'll have you know that I've had lots of mediocre/good players carry me through content, so there.

If you and your friends are that good, you should be able to carry the "bookers" too. Sounds like the issue might be you and your friends.

Skips are useful for significantly cutting down the grind on alt characters.

All the way back in Heavensward, I might more than a few DRKs who refused to tank because they just wanted to be a DPS. Last year, I got a RDM in O6N who did little more than jump around because it was his "RP character." In fact, just a few months back I had another tank in Thaleia throw a fit because I kept taking aggro back and "if I wanted to keep aggro, I should at least do more damage!!!!" Turns out he used Tomahawk 47 times and even potted yet not only was I dealing more damage, I wasn't even provoking half the time.

Suffice it to say, jump potions aren't the reason for bad players. Some simply refuse to learn or already think they're amazing.

OP didn't explain where they and their friends encounter these players. High-end raids and trials? Roulettes? Or story-level dungeon instances?

"Bookers" aren't a thing, although it makes for a more(?) polite pejorative than "trash players" I suppose. And without actual context it is little more than venting for the sake of venting. There are a few long-running threads (Tales from the Duty Finder still a thing?) that are more appropriate for actual anecdotes rather than vague hand-waving.

These "bookers" are not bad because they story skipped the whole game, but because they don't care about playing good.

too true, too true

I constantly have to rez Ultimate Legends during Hunt trains dying to "baby's first mechanics" so I dunno, I think it's more attitude than actual knowledge.

Very true and it's because you are only good at the content that you actually do. Ultimate raiders are good at ultimates, but if they never do dungeons and ignore them due to their ease, then when they actually do them it doesn't necessarily go well. Same with hunts. It's fun for this content to humble them though.
