Well what's the point in crafters, nobody is going to buy gear if they can get the essentials just by leveling up.
Also that feeling is pretty strong, as you can see them copying everything else from every other mmo.

Also, when you level up through quests in other games, how often do you go buy gear from other crafters? me, it was 0 until end game.

People buy gears everyday for meldings, this topic is thus invalid due to your clueless-ness.

They give indeed exp and gear now.
The problem is, after the bandwagon "quest chain is evil incarnate", now is "quest chain is evil incarnate, and by my total assumption they give sets of gear"

Yeah, Rokien doesn't like that either. He's probably the kind of person who hands out pencils or small handfuls of change or the Book of Mormon (this actually happened to me, true story) to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.

I'm sure in 2.0 there would be still gear that can be only earned by crafting (or buying it from another players).
Like the class only weapons and gears, only obtainable by crafting.

SE can bring for every 5 levels (or 10 levels) 2 types of gear. Quest gear with standard stats and crafted gear with better stats. And of course raided gear with the same stats as crafted gear with 1 materia.
