I did, sadly. :') It bugged me that my character felt a bit soulless and tried a very quick edit of just adding a dot to both eyes, it brought so much life back into her it made me go "Oh."

So true haha , doing art for a living and adding those catchlight to basically everyone to put the life into them really felt like a gut punch seeing that taken from the character who more or less started it all.
I wish the highlights were stronger and larger. They ARE there, but in many characters with slimmer or more deep-set eyes , the highlight is way too subtle. In low-light settings it's hard to see it, especially from a distance.
However this game and the character designs have been stylized, most likely with that white dot existing by default. Making it's change/removal a unnecessary change in the style. And while i get the devs intention with the change to make it more "realistic" related to light sources, it's unfortunately a case where aesthetics and style should triumph realism by keeping the light dot the way it was, which was following the camera and not the sun.
Hard disagree. New eyes look fantastic. They look much more alive than what we currently have in EW.
As the winner of the graphics update lottery, my eyes are the most noticeable change and I love the changes. They look like they have more depth and color, the old eyes are the flatter and more lifeless ones to me. Maybe they could adjust the reflection maps or something for people who are dissatisfied.

They have definitely made an improvement to the eyes and their reflection. But still, the presence of that major white dot cannot be underestimated when it comes to all forms of lighting, with and without major light sources.
The left, current one is clearly more lively in it's expression while the right one has seen things. The new eyes, unfortunately only looks good when staring at the sun.
It's situational. Asteri's picture above with their au ra is a good example of situations where the new one objectively does not look more alive.
Personally, I think the new eye light is going to be a pain for anyone who likes gposing. If you're at certain angles, your character will literally look dead inside.
