No. Back in alpha/beta, it was software mouse - you needed a third party editing on the FFXIV.exe to get hardware mouse enabled. It wasn't introduced in the config until way later.

Either point was irrelevant, as it was the fact that the hardware mouse was NOT enabled, like you assumed it was, Elexia. OP's case was identical to mine - for some reason it was not activated when it was introduced for our computers.
I've found that kb/m is better than controller if you're willing to sit down and customize the keys. Reassigning things like accept, cancel, and cycle actionbar keys really improves the experience. Its still far from great, but I prefer it to scrolling through actions with the dpad.
eh it's not bad I was a pro at k/m in 11 that's mainly what i used for years... actually no I should say i would a pro at keyboard control the problem with this game is there is no /target When i would pl as rdm in dunes it was always fun typing that out and the person's name
then again it also helped out a lot with speeding up my typing skills too ^_^ then i'd use the numerical key pad for moving and the the arrows for navigation through menus...
My whole point is though is it could be a lot better though. Now i mainly use controller
mouse and keyboard are optimal for highest level of play. that's not necessarily to say it's overly intuitive (awful key binding options) compared to how well other MMOs use the combination, but it's still the best if you want to heal the fastest and do the best dps.
