ill preface by stating that ive done every expansion relic (currently all zodiac & anima are complete, some eureka, resistance,& manderville) and i can say with each expansion the method is somewhat different, so while some have a problem with EW relics im glad they did something different, despite the design for the last stage for some of the weapons (although perhaps its a bit poetic), these relics are actually quite the grind when you look at it through a larger lens especially of that of a new player, however due to the hivemind mentality of an mmo or perhaps it human nature, some players designate relics as mid core content & in doing so expect something worthy of that aspect even though this is a fallacy i somewhat share the sentiment but to a different degree.
Since they removed job quests & the story that follows i would prefer that for this expansion, the relics take their place in terms of individualizing each class.
The zodiac relics were a good model for this however theres some uniformity in the steps that id like the devs to stop doing, make each weapon step unique to the class.
a few examples would be have WAR run 50x dungeons, or WHM rez 20x in the Field op zones, have a DPS do 30x hunts (these are just examples not definitive) keep integrating old content but do so in way that reflects the originality of the class itself while also providing a story/lore that compliments it just as the job quests/story did.

Give the XIV fanbase the XI grind experience.

It should be a standalone story so not tied to field content or any other specific content. I don't think the idea of gathering a specific currency like Manderville is bad, but they can adjust that by having the currency obtainable a variety of different ways and we can choose our path. Kind of like the crystal sand step for anima or how WT works each week. Tie the currency to some roulettes, some new field content, some PvP, some crafting, and it will still give the feeling of working toward something that just tomestones is lacking but will also be adequately future-proofed.

Don't really care, but you know what? They also should add a gil-sink option like the golden mounts to spend a few tens of millions of gil to buy one outright if you don't want to spend the time grinding tomestones.

I was hoping for a one-time only field operation grind and then a token grind with as many different ways of approaching it as possible.
Similar to the new mogpendium system, but with far more options available like: ultimates, savage, extremes, deep dungeon, maps, crafting, roulette, etc. So you can earn far more tokens the more difficult the content. All repeatable.
So if you clear an ultimate you can get a weapon worth of tokens in a single clear, or you can go craft/big fish/saucer and get the same thing done just taking longer. That way you can work on the relic and something else at the same time.
