Apologies for the confusion, from the number of confused replies I'm guessing this term wasn't as widespread as I thought. In gay culture, a "beard" is a person of the "opposite" gender that pretends to be a gay person's significant other to make them look straight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beard_(companion)

I'm of the same mindset. SE CBU3 is struggling to do what modders have done with ease with Hrothgar and Viera hats. Frankly, it speaks volumes about a lack of commitment to fix the things they promised to fix. In other words, they could have done this years ago but just haven't bothered because they were busy with "more important stuff."

Personally, I feel SE CBU3 should reach out to the modding community to assist them in improving the graphics of FFXIV, since they are apparently overwhelmed by the work needed. Many modders would probably do it for free and just ask for some recognition in the end credits of the expansion.

As far as beards, I would like to see them. Many other MMOs have them as an option in their character creations. I can only assume it is some cultural bias on the part of SE CBU3 to not feature them as an option. The game is ten years old, come on. We should have facial hair by now.
