The 30 minute ban is your punishment for leaving the duty early. Obviously I'd recommend staying until the end, but there's nothing stopping you. Just don't brag about it and nothing can be done to you.

I can`t seem to find the source of where I saw this. I recall seeing at some point that if you leave dungeons as soon as you enter regularly, that doing too often can lead to actions being taken. but I`ve never heard of this actually being applied.
Dunno if that was just for mentor roulette or for all duties. But I do remember seeing that.
Players who withdraw three times in a day from the duty entrance prompt after matchmaking is complete, or who are the first to leave a matched party (i.e., one that is not fully premade) inside a duty before it is completed will receive a 30 minute penalty that will prevent them from registering with Duty or Raid Finder (or other instances such as adventuring forays, gathering forays, and Variant and Criterion Dungeons) until the time expires. The party leader of a premade party in which at least one player currently has the penalty will not be able to register for duties while they are in the party, until the penalty expires. Players who are not the first to leave, or have joined the party in progress, will not receive the penalty if they abandon the party. Players who have been vote dismissed or were in a party that voted to abandon a duty will also not receive the penalty. This penalty does not apply in fully premade parties, with the exception of queuing through any Duty Roulette, to discourage players in premade parties from "fishing" for more desirable duties.
The duration of the penalty is fixed at 30 minutes and will not increase from taking multiple penalties in succession or leaving Duty Roulette: Mentor.
I dunno about that. I've immediately left LotA, ST and WoD multiple times and have never been banned/sent to gaol. Players should be allowed to leave something they don't enjoy, rather than being forced to go through it under threat of potential ban/gaoling.
Now if I intentionally DC'd or asked to be kicked after 5 minutes have passed, then yes: that's a bannable offence.
When it says "intentional leaving," it means exiting/logging out of the game.
Why dont you guys read the ToS to it? I doubt it gets enforced harshly, but it is their approach that "it depends".

The amount of times Ive left Aurumn Vale the moment it pops
TOS leaves it vague on purpose, I'm sure if you do it enough and it's blatant enough the GMs would probably do something. But like a lot of things in the TOS, you really have to build up a history and get reported with proof consistently for it to escalate to a ban.
Considering the OP mentions NN, this is probably about mentors instantly leaving Mentor Roulette the minute they get a duty they don't like. Which yeah, if you do that enough you might rack up enough reports and a GM might do something, but it's not a guarantee.
You're probably better off just not signing up for a roulette if you don't want to play something in the list that could pop up.
