You know if that was unlimited we'd all just use it for storage. "Oop. Inventory's full! Better store all the gear I'm not using in my shop for 999,999,999."
That said, 9 slot sales and 4 slot trades is ridiculous. 10 slot trade minimum (base trade window being the size of one maximum ingredient synthesis: 8 mats, 2 crystal types).

I completely understand peoples frustration at not being able to find low level mats and gear in the markets. If you ever wonder why that it, this limitation is the reason. I am working on the botany and mining achievements and getting massive amounts of mats everyday that I then use to make low/medium level gear as I work on the crafting achievements. Since I can only sell 10 things at the same time though and those slots are used for high level items that pays much better, I am selling stacks of mats and dozens of pieces of gear to NPCs every day since I have no retainer space to store it on.

Baudle has taught me to be wise and have lots of self control. That's why instead of launching personal attacks against 3 people, I will simply note that there are some belligerent, ignorant, and stupid posters in this thread. With that established, one need merely look at the MMO World of Warcraft, which if it doesn't have a truly unlimited-listing auction house, it is effectively unlimited as you can list hundreds of items on it at a time. And yes, you can use it to store items but it comes with a cost because there's a fee to list. Also of note is WoW's bank system, which you can expand with in game currency.
I knew such a concept of hundreds upon hundreds of auction house listing spaces would blow the minds of some FFXIV community players. You might feel the need to reject this idea as it may seem unfamiliar and possibly dangerous. However I can vouch that this large amount of listing spaces is not harmful in any way to FFXIV players' health. So drink a lot of alcohol and come back to this thread and mark down your support for an expanded market system.

I believe? we can buy new retainers soon so that this issue can be resolved. In the mean time, may I suggest these helpful tips:
1) Keep your retainers fully stocked at all times, prevents a 'backlog' of items to sell creeping up.
2) Price aggressively if you want to sell quickly (as in 'the real world' companies sell things cheap in order to make room for more stock).
3) Sell only things in demand not things that hardly sell at all (as in 'the real world' companies sell product that moves quickly and not so much of the stuff that just takes shelf space).
However, the remark regarding the ability to re-price an item without having to remove and relist is a good idea and one that I often wished was present. However, it is nothing to call upon the twelve for guidance for, as we can still manage it ourselves.
