Why Eureka, Bozja (open world part), FATEs, dungeons are all so boring

Like, we're talking about something that was removed, what, seven-eight years ago? Come on. It's not like we're talking about bleeding edge parsing, a world of which I will happily admit I know only what I've learned in passing. We're talking about basic ability usage from the prehistoric era.

Just questioning how you came to the conclusion that you were good at it ^^

I mean, honestly? It's kind of a burn on myself in retrospect - sort of like saying I'm good at opening doors because I don't walk face-first into them. There's not a lot of skill expression in remembering to press the 'I can do damage' button before you press the damage buttons, nor is it particularly meaningful to be any good at.

Not that much more complicated than now... at level 40. Mostly, it was the little things outside the kits, like Enmity still being a more-or-less real mechanic, not yet having potency-crept everything to quite such a vacant oblivion, etc.

That said, this is so... off that I can't help but be suspicious of the rest of your post. Cleric Stance, due to not scaling its cooldown with the GCD and its inability to queue its cancel, arguably cost us as much opportunity to min-max as it added, and what it added wasn't fun; it was just choosing between which half of your kit to effectively grey out rather than actually adding anything. It was a shit mechanic.

Eureka was from Stormblood. Jobs were generally more complex in Stormblood than in Heavensward, so... what are you on about?

...She literally just said you use Defiance only for Butcher's Block combo (and Butcher's Block combo only in Defiance). Inner Beast is not part of the Butcher's Block combo and cannot be done in Deliverance... so, yeah, gauge would have been spent on Fell Cleave, Upheaval, and Onslaught.

All in all:

Would beefing up the skill expression available to jobs help? Sure. Would it help enough to make the likes of most FATEs interesting? Not likely. There's next to nothing for that added 'skill expression' to noticeably do in that content. You'd have to also rehaul those contents' scaling to allow for tighter difficulties, what their mobs are capable of, how those mobs coordinate, etc., etc.

I don't really think a more riveting job kit will necessarily save FATEs or Skirmishes for that matter. Largely, they just don't live long enough for that expression to matter in the first place.

They'd gain far more engagement out of making them (The FATEs and Skirmishes) actually dangerous, e.g., harder hitting, more complex mechanics for FATEs that somewhat rely on being able to stun/silence than what they would trying to make the jobs more engaging - At least in terms of FATEs and Skirmishes. In this regard, Eureka had a little more going for it, but this was only really courtesy of the elemental mechanic than anything else.

Making job kits more complex isn't going to make doing FATE #356, or #4783 any more engaging or enjoyable - It's a soul sucking experience either way, similarly, as is doing Seeq and Destroy for the 27th time.

Sure, ideally, they could do both - I would be fine with that regardless, but I don't think pumping up the job kits would do much in and of itself.

Yeah I don't know what they did but I had much more fun tanking in ARR/HW. Now it really is 100% braindead.

I would say that for the most part everything is quite dull as outside of Extremes and Savages everything is so weak.

Tanks are practically optional in most "casual" content, as most things won't hit hard enough to guarantee a one-shot kill on a healer or DPS even with the bosses "tankbusters".

Playing alone is boring, You mostly play alone when you do these.
Because it's not current content and way less people do them now..

Cleric stance is exactly that : a risk-reward skill you had to "commit" to in order to optimize your dps. So you kinda had to plan for damage beforehand. But this was also a time when there were a few more sources of damage, and many more skills available to the healer, especially for scholar. Swap stance, dump all your cds/dots, then do whatever. It was like a mini burst and mini burst of adrenaline.

In the current encounter design, you'd most likely just use it at specific times throughout the fight.

Want to know why the developers had no choice but to make these jobs so identical and braindead? Because a huge majority of FFXIV players are so bad at the game and they refuse to read their tooltips. You guys are like so bad, you left them with no choice! XD They had to make them easy.
