Oh look! Another troll that believes anyone making a thread that he disagrees about should be banished.

Wow see how fast they lock a thread when it turns into a casual versus hardcore?
love how people that enjoy the current leveling speed = lazy, wants levels removed, etc.
and people that want 1-50 to take 6 months = hardcore, committed, better, etc.
the people have spoken and they like the current leveling speed.

(Why are 90% of the uses of this image on the net wallpaper sized? Sheesh)
You ever notice the JP forum has an amazingly fewer amount of pages than ours? I like to think the fact that this kind of thing isn't as common there plays some role in that.
What's wrong with just having one thread for each topic and not letting it get so full of hate that it gets locked?
Moose go work on the ls website and stop posting!
See now this is a thing XI had that I wouldn't mind in XIV, not because it was in XI but because the concept is good. Proficiencies/skill levels add another thing to work towards and would make things like powerleveling less effective in general. Given it adds more grinding and whatnot but in this case it's not an awful thing.
but you cant blame SE for fast leveling cause hardcore ppl will always level and get stuff faster than casual, and the fact that 55% thats more than HALF the game population agreed in the leveling speed was just fine.
I think this is what you meant.
Although really the last thread got smited mainly due to Jack-Daniels suscessfull attempt at derailing the topic.
On to the topic at hand though: I think that leveling as it stands is nothing more than a hinderance in the mind of the developers. I understand they are aware many people are 50 and want to be sure new players coming into the game are not caught at a disadvantage but I feel it cripples the feeling of progression for your character.
The only real progression we have is through gear, it's one of the few things you can actually be proud of getting. Getting a max leveled class/job is no feat. Getting your Ifrit/Moogle/Garuda/Relic are, and it's a shame that while there are 50 levels in the game only one of them is worth a damn.
50.
So I find the whole point of leveling in itself is pointless to the game if everything inbetween is just filler with no substance. Maybe I'm wrong but the lack of clear direction from the developers on this is a tad disheartening to say the least. While I understand Rien makes no promises of the accuracy of his translations I don't remember many occasions where he has been totally wrong and I don't doubt his post.
Yoshida has flip-flopped on leveling more than once allready, he previously stated that leveling was only this fast because they were not designing any low-level content for 1.0. Now we get a "Leveling will be just as fast in 2.0" from him months afterwards.
I don't care if we keep leveling on not (Obviously we will) the hyperbole of removing levels is mainly to point out to people. What is the point of levels when there is no content or anything within the process?
As it stands leveling doesn't do anything that it currently should exist for. Leveling should at least.

- Introduce you to the game world
- Encourage you to explore
- Teach you that your character has limitations
- Show your characters growth over time
- Encourage experimenting with new skills
- Give a sense of accomplishment when you can overcome a task that was previously thought impossible.
Right now leveling is just a bump in the road to get to the end of the game.
Tell me how again how ad-hominem attacks isn't trolling.
I love how people claim that anyone wanting a longer leveling experience, anyone with "no life", is instantly less legitimate for enjoying content that they don't.
Says the same guy that claims anyone enjoying a leveling experience like in classical FFXI must somehow have cognitive dissonance.
