Fishing, Its time to bring it in line with the other gathering jobs!!

I think you may have the wrong temperament for big fishing. It is a minigame unto itself. It’s also one of the few evergreen pieces of content the game has, alongside ultimates.

Lone ripper has a weather requirement (gales) and the preferred bait is heavy steel jig iirc. Slap a lavender remora, chum as much as you can and only reel if you get a !!! Slap persists until you next catch a fish so the gp can go a long way.

As someone who loves the fishing, I want a bait box and I want a better in game tracker. Really annoying that I have to use an outside website to track my fish timers.

As someone who has all the big fish, no. It doesn't need to be changed. And it took me like 4 years to get them all.

You don't need a bait box. Bait is cheap and easily got to only catch the ones you're actually going for at any given time. There is no point to keeping everything on hand.

As for timers, that's not something the game is supposed to be doing for you. That's something you need to do for yourself, hence the reason for 3rd party websites. If the game kept fish timers for you, that would reduce the difficulty and challenge of it all.

How is it difficult and challenging to open a website? It's literally just an extra step instead of having it in game.

People had to discover them first. It's one of those community building things.



The fishing community is quite active.

I don't feel like trawling (heh) through interviews and whatnot to look it up, but I'm pretty sure they explicitly stated at one point that big fishing and the obscurity of timers and requirements is the way it is specifically to encourage community and information sharing.

the chocobo bag is your bait box. they added it for people whon wanted a bait box.... but since they had to make memory space for that data anyway they made it accessible for any item

If the content isn't fun for you, why in the world are you still engaging with it?

You don't get to decide to take away other players' fun just because you're not having any yourself.
