Treasure Maps

how many times have you done treasure hunts again?
and technically, you CAN farm multiple maps a day. Twice to be exact.

Are you talking about gathering maps from gathering nodes, or running map hunts?

the first has the 1 map every 18 hours limit. And I'm pretty sure it's always been like this.
the second, has no limit. Unless there's a limit like 100 dungeon runs max a day no one ever found.

Farming maps in order to do map runs. And no there wasn't always an 18 hour cooldown. There was a time when you could farm a map, decipher it and farm another one, put it in saddlebag and farm another for inventory. The cooldown started during the Ophio skin maps launch

Nope, it's always been 18 hour CD for gathering maps. You could always possess multiple (1 of each type in inventory + saddlebag + each retainer, one map deciphered, and 20 in your moogle mail)

Ophiotauroskin is the most recent map type, and the 18 hour cooldown has been around at least as long as I've been doing maps, which is since around 2019.

You could always buy more than one map at a time and dispense them among your various inventories.


I do think there should be a little leeway though. Maybe only the most recent (two) type(s) of map should be on one 18 hour cooldown, with all other maps pooled into another separate 18 hour cooldown. That way you can't flood the market with the most recent map(s), but can still farm them routinely, while still being able to grab and older map in the meantime for something to do in the downtime.

There has never been a time where you could gather maps back to back. If there was, you must have crossed over to another reality.

My guess is op is thinking of either the alexandrite map farming (arr relic) or one of the moogle tomes event maps.
Because as others said, 18 hour cd has always been there.

Either of those, or maybe buying normal ones from the marketboard. Or just making way to gather a new one when yesterday's is in your inventory.

No. Collecting always had a cool down. What you are describing is how many you can hold on your person. 1 currently in use, one in inventory, one per chocobo bag ( 2 if you have the tombstone app thingy ), one per retainer.

They've always been on the same cooldown since I started playing in Heavensward. Have no idea if it was different in ARR.

I don't know that I'd agree the two types should be on different cooldowns but I also don't see any problems presented if they were. the important thing is that they're on some sort of cooldown.

It may not be possible since we usually get both types from the same nodes.
