It's honestly never even occurred to me at any point to blindly follow a mentor through mechanics, not even when I first started playing and was the sproutiest sprout in sproutsville - the crown does not remotely have dorito status so if people follow and shank themselves on a mechanic as a result, I'd say that's more on them than the mentor.

The people that stand out are always the ones who explain in chat if needed or who do, in fact, mark themselves with the aforementioned dorito, in which case if there's a fight I'm not very good at (totally not thinking about Nier right now) then I might follow them but it's also worth mentioning that sometimes these are people who haven't got, or choose not to show their crown.

I read yours. Do better yourself. Mentors are not infallible. Something must have triggered you to create a crap on mentor thread when others already exist. What you’re saying is nothing new.

I think the biggest problem with the mentor system is they tie a mount to it - and a massively grindy mount at that. Which means a) people wear the crown just to grind the mount and b) the size of the grind makes for some very bad mentors because they don't even want to be there.

lol okay, i'm just gonna stop replying after this. obviously your feelings got hurt, wasn't meant to be taking that way. nowhere in my post did i said " you gotta play a certain way" i just said " the system turns off the crown for said duties they fail a lot on, and the system keeps it on for the duties that they're really good at" and rewards "US"(yes US) mentors that do go out of their way to learn all the mechs and get all the grades up there, that is all. if they want to fail all the mechanics go right ahead i got no problems with that, but that crown is coming off for that specific duty lmao , sprouts tend to gravitate towards it like fly on shit (im nowhere near perfect, nobody is. it's just something to work for.) ... also nowhere did i say others to be responsible for me fellow WoL. ta-ta o/

100% agree with you, that's why i'm advocating for a grade system, they can still keep the crown and have the instances count towards it even when the crown comes off

OK at that point this doesn't even need to be a mentor thing and just something for everyone to use. A grading system with potential rewards at the end of it would incentivise everyone to play better.
