My impression of English Forum

I know people may easily misunderstand, but game forums are always like this. (Intentionally by design or Unintentionally)
You see, players who're satisfied with a game are... well.. satisfied. They're enjoying playing the game as we speak. Meanwhile, some players who're not satisfied are going to look somewhere to vent, rant, or give feedback about the game they're playing. A player who's enjoying criterion dungeon for example is less likely to open the forum or Reddit and write positive feedback about it, while another player who's disappointed by it is more likely to write negative feedback. That's how gaming forums work most of the time. It doesn't mean there won't be a positive feedback around, but it's more of negativity in comparison to positivity

? With all due respect, I've not interacted with JP community, primarily because I am not a native Japanese speaker. As I stated, I've only begun to engage with the English forum during the Lalafell's drama. While I do understand your intention and disgruntle toward the unfairness you might have experienced regarding the JP forum, I would like to say that what I typed and said in my thread represents me and my experience, not the JP community, for I am not part of the JP forum.

You have the right of it, and it is, indeed, quite sad. My way of looking at it is that forums tend to attract the most unhappy people, for MOST of the happy people are playing the game and enjoying it, with MOST of the people on the forums being the unhappy ones. It's pretty stark even when compared to different areas. Like the Healer forum here is very toxic and everyone seems to hate Healers and gameplay, but then you ask around Reddit and see that there are a good deal of people that like them alongside those that don't but they all can be mostly respectful and get along, and you go to some YouTube comments on FFXIV creator videos and a lot of people are saying all views and getting along, too.

These forums are somehow the most concentrated of the toxic ones, even if there are some good people here just trying to have enjoyable conversations about the game or offer legitimate criticisms.

Then you get stuff like this which outright proves the point. And there's always some people liking those toxic posts.

It's really sad. But all we can do is try to be the lighter voices in the darkness and pray that the moderators someday hear.

I don't think that's quite fair. There are a lot of good people in the English communities and a lot of non-English communities that are even worse. The Japanese community can be downright vicious when they choose to be, even going so far as to not only get people to delete their characters but to find out who they are in real life and continue hounding them.

It's like the world's going mad. Maybe it always was and the internet just exposes it more since we can all see what once might have only happened in a small backwater community somewhere that we'd never see (while we'd encounter only the cases in our own backwater), though I think the semi-anonymity of the internet likely does contribute some.

In either case, it is a worrying trend for the future, and one that needs to be opposed with reason and level headed counterpoint.

While the skepticism toward my post/thread is not unwarranted, I would like to ensure that this is my genuine expression and impression of the English forum. As I am currently working in the academic and writing field, I do understand and feel quite emotionally when I see my or others' works being bent or distorted into something that I or they didn't do or intend to imply, especially when it comes to art such as game designing and story writing. As I stated, I love reading criticism, especially from the English speakers, I genuinely love to see and understand their views and their interpretation of things and stuff, after all, it's my experience in America that inspired me to pursue my career in the academic field. I would like to apologize to you and miss SassyAssassin if my message feels like a bait or if my message does sound condescending.

its the forums. no one takes these seriously as its just a bunch of trolls in here usually.

Don't let the forums ruin your fun in-game, OP.

I've learned to accept that toxicity is something to expect when conversing anonymously with others on a public forum like this. It still gets under my skin sometimes too, but I have to remember that a lot of it is people wanting to vent their frustrations. I appreciate you sharing your perspective, though. :)

There are some pretty cool people on here, too, which is why I'm always coming back to read (or react to) what they say.
