ya megaten does this the worse, they the form of virtual items you're speaking of is the kind in which you pick a "ticket stub" and then from that ticket stub which may cost 5-20 dollars you are granted 1 item at random from common-rare. For those with money on their hands or those who are compulsive it really is a nasty trick to get people to keep pressing their luck by putting money into a game in hopes of receiving an item that they really want.

I think something is amiss here with the perception of Mog Bonanza in regards to Vanafest. I think the reason why they aren't holding it any longer is because of the entry to Vanafest, and not the Mog Bonanza itself. That's where the payment for entry laws are playing a rule.

This, however, doesn't mean the Gold Saucer can't be implemented. They just can't require someone to pay to be able to have entry to that specifically, such as buying tickets to get in to an event, like Vanafest. I know, at least in California, where I think SE still has an office in L.A., contests where the winner is drawn randomly, or the odds are the same for everyone (like opening a candy wrapper), can't require entry fees. (RE: "No Purchase Necessary" on lots of 'contest' marketing ads.)

So, unless they go and set up something requiring someone to go to an event to gain access to the Gold Saucer in FFXIV, it could still be implemented.

It's not about the game itself, but about how one would be required to enter.

Unless I'm completely missing something here? O.o

The gold saucer casino will probably be completely isolated within the game with no rules, terms, conditions or any of that stuff.

Kind of like the casino in the Pokemon games... Yeah, I don't think we have anything to worry about. :P

its simple RMAH is a Pay 2 win cash cow for blizzard and it supports a toxic unhealthy gaming enviroment for players. People spend money they need for necessities on fake game weapons and armor. And they form obsessive destructive behaviors because of it. It ruins alot of peoples lives as it is and its a major problem in Korea and honestly in MMOs in general where people cant practice self control and there real life suffers because of it. Korea is not against gaming in any way but they are firmly against gambling and addiction and theyre people suffering because of it and i think they have taken a great step and may have started to pave the way for more states/countries to follow. They strongly support competitive gaming(fighting games/starcraft etc...) But they will not let their people fall pray to P2P/gambling hoaxes and RMT anymore. Current P2p games will be given a grace period to change theyre structure too monthly subs. and if theyd ont they will be shut down. It will also carry a 40k us dollar fine now if your caught doing RMT activity in korea. China even has some similar laws that are actually inforced and has made a dent in the RMT trade there.

F2P games uses these sort of gashapon to earn big money. some game even make it so that if you don't have these certain items from the gashapon, you can't advance(or even enjoy) in the game.

on the side note, FFXI's mog bonanza are fine as they just a bonus event players doesn't have to pay for

Not that I particularly cared for Mob bananza (though I did participate when I played FFXI a little bit) but why would videogame gambling be illegal? So...it's ok to kill, maim, torture, cuss, rape (obviously most of these I'm thinking of from M rated games like Grand Theft Auto) but GAMBLING digital MONEY!? OMG

You also forgot to mention the time restriction that some companies took to combat excessive gaming (By shutting down on certain hours) We don't want another incident where parents left their child unattended and their kid was killed because they left her alone to game in LUNA online.
