I like this idea. Imidiatly add a person's OLD spot into the lottery as a plot. This way, it will bring more plots back into the circle of roulette. Not just the new plots.
And the reason for your complaining is only your entitlement for not getting a Large?
I mean with Empyreum launch people complained: "To many FC Plots, they dont need half of the housing area for themselves". Square changing it to a hybrid model (same as with the former placard clicking era) and people are still complaining.
Whats next? 100% Personal Wards and then complaining "Boo huh I cant find a Venue Plot for my FC"? All of the Plots are gone to Personals. DADDY SQUARE DO SOMETHING. THE SITUATION IS UNBEARABLE. Why does the OF still amaze me after so many years.
Particularly: "there's plethora of small 2-5 people FC's and Larger FC's who will roll around, bid on private houses"
First off, these houses aren't, and never were, intended solely for private use. That's why they're hybrid wards. Secondly, SE's official position on housing has always been: Free Companies first, individual players second. This is by design, and, if you notice, SE designed the lottery in a way such that FCs have the upper hand by allowing multiple FC members to bid on the same plot and increase their chances of winning. SE has always been intent on ensuring FCs' needs are met before individual players'.
However, if there's proof that FCs are actually abusing the relocation system, and trying to prevent players' access to buying privately, then that's a different problem and needs to be addressed. If there isn't a limitation already, there should be a cooldown timer in which an FC cannot relocate for a certain amount of time. 60-90 days, I think, is a pretty reasonable waiting period. However, if there's no abuse of the relocation system occurring and your argument is simply "they're taking the houses I'm trying to get", then your words are going to fall on deaf ears because of SE's stance on who (between FCs and individuals) should get priority.
Why exactly is someone using the relocation feature a problem?
This would be such an insanely terrible idea.
You'd make it so every large and medium is automatically knocked out within minutes of new wards being added, since everyone will be clamoring to make the mad dash to relocate for the auto-win, giving insane advantage to anyone who already has a house, completely destroying the purpose of it being you know, A LOTTERY. Not to mention the inequality it would add. Person moves from their small to a large. Sure, their old plot got added back, but its just a small, anyone hoping to win a large with the lottery is SOL. Not to mention it brings back the server congestion and anger of people getting 90k'd because the servers are getting slammed by everyone trying to compete in the rush, or trying to login only to get 9000 in queue and thus standing no chance.
Not to mention the logistics of it - what do you do when a plot has 40 bids on it and then someone relocates to it? Force them to retrieve their bid and go somewhere else? What happens if the person is busy that week/can't find much time to log-on during that lottery period and has no time to retrieve the bid and place it somewhere else? "get rekt"? Do remember the reason for the 5 day bidding cycle is to make it so even people with extremely busy schedules will have time to submit a bid, and your theorized idea can so easily screw them over, destroying the entire ethos Yoshi-P wants for the lottery cycle, since spoiler alert, not everyone lives online 24/7. Or even worse, if someone relocates a few minutes before a lottery period ends so that people literally have no time to grab their bid and go somewhere else?
The lottery system does what it was designed to do, it doesn't need any 4000iq ideas to try to change it for the better that would only make it worse. The only thing it needs is more supply that is properly weighted to the 70/30% split demands in Individual vs FCs that several statistics websites and surveys have compiled.
Actually I think the lottery fails on a series of levels; two big ones the lottery moves far too slow and second that there is no incentive for bidders to grab a small - this creates a huge problem in general. No one will settle for a small because most housing first timers now can afford a med/large because of the sheer amount of gil in circulation. this results in little to no competition for the smalls and far too much competition for med/large - so the intent is to incentivize people to get a starter home rather then trying to skip to the end of the housing game and be disappointed when they fail.
I think she is referring to FC's forcing out competition. Essentially suppose you Want Player X to get the house.
FC of Player X puts 20 Relo bids on the house....and Player X does.
If FC wins/ they eat the 7mill loss and repeat the process until Player X is the winner because people are not bidding against 20+ players if there is another option.
It is kind of lame because really there is too much money in the system - and given how slow the housing system moves...it can naturally be very daunting for someone to keep losing a housing bid only to keep seeing the house go up month after month.
On the 'FC/Private' issue. The problem is mostly that FC's generally don't like going for smalls, so the FC only wards end up being 200 bids on every Large, 50 bids on every Medium, and 1-2 bids on some of the Smalls.
The Private only wards also skew towards Larges and Mediums, but not to quite the extreme.
So I think a better solution could be something like:
They release 5 new wards.
1 ward is all FC only
1 ward's Larges and Mediums are FC only and the Smalls are free-for-all.
1 ward's Larges are FC only and the Mediums and Smalls are free-for-all.
Last 2 wards are all Private only.
Tweaks may be needed here or there, but the general concept is facilitating Larges and Mediums to be more numerous for FC's than Smalls.
Balmung is now at minimum 4 bids on every free small. Please Do something about this. We have dozens of people here who have been trying to get a house since ARR and never can because of the insane amount of artificially created scarcity.
