On an established server, it is very likely that you will never win a housing lottery for a personal house. The highest chance will come whenever new housing wards are added. At that point, the probability of getting a house can possibly reach over 10% - but that's just for one round and in subsequent rounds the chance of getting a house will rapidly drop back to near impossible levels. Going to a new server that still has plenty of housing available is the only way to get a guaranteed personal house. In Dynamis, there are still about 1000 personal houses left on Marilith & Maduin. Halicarnassus has about 500 left. Seraph is full - don't go there if you want a personal house.

While it's good advice, I would even go further to recommend that you place your bid on a one with zero bids one to two days before the lottery ends when 6.3 release. When Empyreum launched, every personal house had over 10 bids on Balmung. I don't think there will be any 0 bid plots left a couple days before the end of the lottery. It's still a good idea to wait until later just to ensure you don't end up in a freak situation with a lot of bidders, but really the best you can hope for is to have 1 or 2 bids below the average. And if you're thinking about something like LB-41, I'd strongly suggest waiting until near the end to assess your move. You cannot hurt your chances by waiting - especially if you're eyeing something that's gonna have a ton of bids anyway. Your presence as the first bidder will not deter anybody.

I bought 8 lottery tickets over 8 weeks. Did not win a thing, lost money because it costs money to play the lotto and I didn't get my money back. I demand a win.

Yea i have thought bout it but i have good friends on the world im on with a small fc house that we change decorations, or at least try to, on seasons. so i don't wanna lose that

I appreciate everyone's reply except that troll, you are all right it would be best to either wait till new wards are added in 6.3 or wait till the day before or morning of the last day. I was really hoping some from SE would reply with something but I probably won't get that reply lol

No, its not best to wait until new wards are added in 6.3! The strategies we were talking about were specifically for that single round when the new 6.3 wards are added. If you want to get a personal house on your server, you have to participate in every lottery round even though the chance of winning is extremely small. The launch of 6.3 will just offer you a single round where your chance of winning may be higher than 10%, but that's it. There will never be a time when you actually even have a decent chance of winning a personal house. The launch of 6.3 will just be when you have the least terrible odds of winning.

The only way to get a guaranteed house on an established server is to make a shell FC and snap up a FC house. Those remain available for a long time after the launch of new wards. Make your FC ASAP if you want to go this route, because you must be in the FC for 30 days to be eligible to bid for a house on its behalf.
