I'm pretty sure they know that you understand what to do. The problem is they know you and them won't be able too communicate. And they want to avoid any awkward situations that this could lead too since they would then appear impolite.
This is what EMOTES ARE FOR.
People stop asking for terms that exist already in some form in the in game dictionary. The fact that people ask for such terms without knowing that a similar term exists that has the same meaning is not going to help. It make it harder to find the term you are looking for. Clearly you haven't even checked yourself if you have to say "I think a term doesn't exist" instead of "I know it doesn't exist."
Front Line Class, Support Line Class, and Rear Line Class already exist. These work. I don't know if you can translate words like "Tank" since their may not be an equivalent for the other languages. Or you might get a word meaning "a large drum for holding liquid/a body of water" which is what you'd get if you looked up "tank" in the dictionary.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you here. The problem with these phrases is they are too vague.
For example if you say "Front Line Class" are you talking about a close-range damage dealer like Monk or Dragoon ? Are you talking about a tank like warrior or Paladin ? If you are talking about warrior, do you need a tank or a damage dealer ?
If you say "Support Line Class" are you looking for a healer ? A buffer ? An enfeebler ? A pet class ?
If you say "Rear Line Class" you must be talking about either black mage or bard. But if you're talking about bard, does this mean you don't want any buffs ? If so, shouldn't you say "Support Line Class" ?
It's all very convoluted and frankly unusable in my opinion.
Words like "Monster", <insert monster family type here>, etc. are suspiciously absent.
Actually what I've found out now is that some groups handle loot a certain way and seem to only want JP speakers so that they can explain it.Quote:

I would like to add "Grand Company Seals" to the list of stuff that should have been in the auto-translate ages ago!
Greetings!
To enhance communication with players from around the world, we will be adding a good deal of words to the auto-translate dictionary in patch 1.23!
The list is quite large, but to give you a few examples:
• Goobbue
• Caravan
• Caravan Defense
• Tank
• Healer
• Home point
• Area
• Boss
• Dalamud
• Journal
• Solo
• Leader
…and many, many more.
I just want to show my support for terms like "I have done this fight before" or "I have experience with this monster". Those were good ideas.
{Offensive}
{Defensive}
{Neutral}
{I'm ready to chain!}
{Better luck next time.}
{Let's split into two (three) (four) groups.}
{You have shown great improvement}
{We need a little bit more practice}
{Easy prey}
{Too easy}
{Tough}
{Incredibly Tough}
If you plan to add translations for enemy (or pvp opponent) strength, which I fully support, please be sure to add ALL of the ones used in FFXI. They are useful references:
Too Weak to be Worthwhile
Easy Prey
Decent Challenge
Even Match
Tough
Very Tough
Incredibly Tough
Impossible to Gauge
