Anyone wish they could use the new limited edition Splatoon 3 controller for FFXIV? Splatoon 3 is one of the fastest selling games of all time. Millions of people now have Switch controllers, imagine how many would like to use it here with a working UI.
The Switch controller works perfectly fine through steam or through betterjoy or what have you. The thread is about the interface not reflecting the different buttons and layout.
It's been a while so i'll bump
The crossbars corrospond to the position of the buttons on the controller. Why would you need the button icons to match? Like this is a non-issue.
Who looks at their controller buttons?
why do you feel the need to argue against expanding a UI feature thats already in the game? Not everybody plays the exact same as you. I can see no downsides to adding another option to the layout dropdown that they already have.
I'm agreeing with Biggie here. While I generally have been able to get around this over time, having your visible button layout on screen match what you have on controller (especially when it is a controller you are intending to use frequently) is a great aid.
I'm noticing this issue on occasion using my Switch Pro controller in games that at most offer the ABXY layout for XBOX button mapping, which can confuse me how I'm supposed to bind properly like in Tales of Arise for example.
The requested feature is literally just a third option of an existing system with a slightly altered UI layer for the ABXY buttons, so I'm not sure why ppl say "lol it is a non-issue for me" like it is actually a non-issue to add it in the first place.
The face buttons are not always shown all four together. When navigating the interface, they often appear one alone. For example, the game will display a blue X button but the button on a switch controller would be Y. Further, changing the button binds wouldn't help at all because then the game will accept the X button input but it'll display a yellow Y everywhere.
Being able to play without looking at your controller is a useless skill if the game constantly tells you to press the wrong button.
