Definitely jumping on this vote. :)
While the current system of getting visits from SE(?) selected npcs from the Story after each patch that includes more/new island-level caps and so is real nice, getting visits from your personal favorite ones (or the Scions alone, if not) would be awesome! =) Even better if we will be able to invite them ourselves, as often and when we like.
-I was a big fan of XI's Adventuring Fellow system; having a npc, that you even could customize gender, looks etc. for, gave the game even more spice and flavor. A chocobo-companion is working fine and is nice, but still miss the former mentioned partner-mechanic.
As for the topic again, my favorite non-story npc is Kurenai (biggest favorite) and Geva. In the msq-batch, they are Lyse and Yugiri.
So yeah, please include or consider implementing this feature, Yoshi-P san. ^_^ No big disapointment if not, but it would be so utterly cool. :)

I still want this btw. The quests are cute but it's not what I was asking for. I want the Scions to just hang out with us on the Island Sanctuary. I want the IS to remain relevant beyond 7.0.
I can't afford to go speak to the devs in person, they tell us to post on the forums, I'm posting on the forums.

Also would really like this! I have so many favorite npcs that aren't given spotlight in the story anymore, so why can't they come hang out with me? Some of them deserve a little vacation!
