A small concern I have about housing

There is a Crystal DC Housing Discord if you look it up or ask someone (I don't have the link anymore, unfortunately). People post the available private plots on all servers in the DC and Apartments on Balmung when they become available, because they are in such high demand. That's how I got mine on my alt a couple months ago.

My best guess on why there's a 35 day reclaim period has to do with how the data seems to be stored. Housing items are associated with the plot number then the player associated with the plot (why other players can take furnishings you placed in a house if they are a tenant with furnishing removal privileges). If the plot were to be demolished a second time before the first owner claimed their items and items placed into caretaker storage, the game may not be able to separate what belongs to who. Again, a guess on my part. That could be totally wrong and there could be other reasons.

If taking a long break from the game is something you expect to do on occasion, you're probably better off with an apartment since those don't demolish. If you're looking for garden access, you can always ask to be added as a tenant to a friend's house if they aren't doing their own gardening.

Try actually looking. Every time someone brings this up, I use world visit, go to Balmung's Empyrean and quickly find available apartments in the subdivisions. There are still some for now though I can't guarantee how much longer they'll last.

if you are just starting out, chances are you really shouldnt be worried about a house now, nor would you have a lot of decorations, so an apartment would be a good start.

yes, you have played for a couple weeks, but who know if you still want to play in 3 months? you may find something you vehemently dislike, hard to say.

so, stop worrying about things that you may never do, and worry about enjoying yourself. putting the cart before the horse is an exercise in frustration.

Yeah but Knowing myself, I love setting goals and working towards them even if its entirely RNG in this case, just generally having something to "work towards to"

and I mean thread isnt about myself alone, few other people did voice their concerns as well, just thought this part of system is extremely unfair.

One thing to mention is that while a house can be lost, and an FC can kick you out, apartments are forever.

So if you have unique items that cannot be replaced, put them in an apartment. Then you never have to worry about unsubbing for more than a month and losing those items by accident, even if you do lose a house.

Is it possible to have both, apartment and a house? I was under impression it wasnt.

You can absolutely have both. I definitely have both - my FC has a house, I have a personal house, and I have an apartment in Shirogane separate from those two. The houses could theoretically be lost, but the apartment will be there until the day the servers shut down or my character is banned.

Ok that's a good idea. I'll have to find it.

The Bokos...they are getting restless and are starting to make me nervous.

The demolition isn't in a vacuum. It gives the homeless a miniscule chance of grabbing the house belonging to someone who doesn't even log on for the specified time. Would be extremely saddening if people having bought houses years ago just... sat on them, while being absent for 1+ year. Especially if they bought up entire wards during first-come-first-serve. I'm fully supportive of the demolition - they even turn it off often, like right now it's off because of the Ukraine situation since months.
