E3 Expectations

What to expect? A bunch of videos we've all seen before only to be referred to as "new". u_u;

I only expect a CGI trailer, just like last time.

My E3 predictions.

There is going to be a lot of people that is going to be disappointed.

There is going to be a lot of people that is going to be disappointed but pretend that they're not.

There will be wii fans that will be pissed off at 360 fans for claiming they had the best show.

There will be 360 fans that will be pissed at the wii fans for claiming they had the best show.

No one will get pissed off at the PS3 fans because 99% of the fans will already know what Sony has to show before they started.

While we might get previews of the new UI here, I wouldn't expect to see much of it at E3. E3 will be used to try and push the game to new customers and shots of menus don't usually sell a game too well.

FMV footage is likely, possibly inter spliced with in game shots of new, remodelled or just generally pretty locations and/or combat.

I dont play FFXIV much at present, however I am stayin' subbed. I log to check patches.
I might say it went a huge step in right direction since release. And all stuff about 2.0 and PS3 release are givin' me a lill' hope that game may succeed again with PS3 release.

However - what I am looking forward in near future is mentioned E3 :i I am not sure excatly if they will show us anything (yoshi said, they will). But if they do - what kind of trailer are you expecting ?

1)<movie/cut scenes> with very little from gameplay

2)a lot of gameplay, showing us "new UI" for the first time (materia, gear, inventory) + new content

3) a lot of text of kind - eorzea is rising, and very low of gameplay (might happen) :D

or anything else. I myself think it will be very, very short trailer mix of 1) and 3). - if there will be. I hope they are going to keep promise in any way :)

Type 2) of presentation would be the best to address players, even ex-players./fans

imho ( and I'm not getting my hopes up either) but when I think about this rationally, I feel like they HAVE to pull all the stops here to hook the crowd, so they can get the hype up for FFXIV 2.0.. I feel that they are going to do more than just a little video that many people won't care for, because they did the same thing for FFXIV 1.0, and look where it got them...

So, If I were in SE shoes right now, I would reveal alot of info regarding 2.0 ( not all of it obviously) but a good 10% of information about 2.0, would be enough to spark the crowd, into being remotely interested in this game.

So I am expecting more, then most people are thinking its going to be which is just a video... but I feel strongly.. that it will be more than that ( if SE wants FFXIV to succeed) then they'll do anything to get it.

i'm not really expecting much at e3 for those of us that are still playing. the e3 trailer i expect to be more of showing the game as it sits and alot of things we have already been shown, but that people not playing the game have not seen. i'm not really expecting alot of new stuff for us at e3, but figure afterwards is when we will start getting alot more info about the progress towards 2.0 and more information regarding new content and expectations about 2.0.

What I know for sure will be there:

A new trailer specifically for 2.0 (this much, at least, was mentioned in the development outline for 2.0).

What I expect to be there:

Gameplay footage of 2.0 and a playable press demo of a new zone.

What I want to be there:

A lengthy discussion at the Sony press conference, something to reinvigorate public opinion on the game and generate new interest.

A mention of upcoming classes and the new level cap.

Extended press demos on all of the games journalism sites and TV stations reporting e3 (SE rarely does this).


What I don't want:

A brief mention, and only a brief mention of 2.0 in one of Sony's irritating "Whats in store" clip videos that always last about five minutes longer than they should.

Off the wall possibilities that most likely wont happen:

SE makes a surprise show at the Microsoft presser to say XIV 2.0 will also be on xbox live. (With a new engine in the works this is a discrete possibility and would be a clever move on their part.)

I think they will release a trailer that starts with CGI or possibly ingame cs of stuff we have seen and then show Dalamud and the music changes to choral chaos type music....and then fades to black and says a realm reborn. A boom we will all be blown away with in game footage of running through zones and fights to the theme song from beta. At the end they show the dates (Sept 2012 for PC beta) December 2012 for PS3 beta. Then fade to black and then hit us with a crescendo and a quick snippet of Omega/Ultima then gives the SE logo with the website at end. Then huge applause from the press crowd.
