the only way to effectively combat bots is to remove the market. ban the people who buy gil. start with a 5 to 10 day vacation for the first offence. its been against the ToS of every mmo since the beginning of mmos.

come down heavily on the buyers, once that gets around, you see far less demand for the bot's product, which will always be the real cash from selling gil. it would be easy for SE, just follow the money. and no one can say that SE does not have the server side data pool to do this. no need for any special client side program, just the will of SE to put their foot down and finally do something aside pay the STF to drink coffee or tea...

I've seen some RMT websites advertising themselves as selling "clean gil" that cannot be traced back to illicit activity, but at this point I'm inclined to think that just means "farmed by bots using methods that don't involve hacking".

considering enforcement of any kind seems nonexistent, they ALL could advertise that.

likely means more that "none of our buyers has ever been caught"

Ban one bot and another appears to replace the first. As long as there's a market for what the bots are farming, the bots will be there to take advantage.

If you really want to get rid of bots, you need to get rid of what's keeping them in business - their customers. It can't be that difficult to trace where the gil farmed is ending up.

Workshops and gardens. And possibly some "slaves" using macros to craft end game gear. I could do that myself but i'd get incredibly bored after a while. For someone who's doing it as a job to feed their family, they'll keep doing it no matter how bored they get.

20+ bots in each zone, couldn't even get a rabbit from the fate and gave up. A GM could take 5 minutes and clean up both areas, it's not hard whatsover to identify them.

People keep saying another bot will pop up and yes they will but that's another purchase or a game copy and subscription. Ban bot after bot until it costs more for them to get new accounts than what their making. I would gladly do an hour of bot cleanup a day for FREE.

except GM's are not allowed to do any bot busting. thats the job of the 4 person Special Task Force in Japan. yes.. its laughable. 4 people for ALL the worlds.. and I suspect they do not do much outside of the Japanese servers
