As the OP and others suggest, the netcode/servers are the biggest culprit. The PvP is being pushed in a direction of faster and faster based combat based on action/reaction to be more in-line with every other MMO's PvP, but the servers and netcode literally cannot handle fast paced PvP. There are so many examples of this being the case.
Seeing the WAR on the enemy team rushing toward you, you know he is going to pop his charge AoE stun, so you outplay him and react with guard immediately. But the servers couldn't keep up with your reaction speed and you get stunned and and hit for full damage while in Guard, and now Guard is on cooldown.
The crystal is about to be pushed into the checkpoint but your team is just about to res, so you run in and pop your DRG Sky High LB to buy your team some time to run into the crystal with you. But again the servers couldn't keep up with and you get stunned/bound while in mid air, wasted LB meter and the enemy pushes the crystal while you LB into an open area with no players. Or even worse, you get turned into a creature by the WHM in mid air.
None of these interactions were intended or should even be possible and are indefensible.
I like PvP.
Rival Wings didnt even exist outside of Moogle Tomestone Events (except for weekend runs organized by PvPaissa, which also catered to Eloboosters and Wintraders), And the few Matches that did exist, could easily be ruined, the moment a entire Team choose to go full Healers, turning them unkillable most of the time.
Previous PvP was long dead & to get through rotations for all jobs was irritable & didn’t synced in right (I can imagine most people qeued for it only for daily roulette).
6.1 brought a drastic change for PvP which brought mixed but nonetheless better than the previous state in which more players are engaging in it & in a positive note it brought great job changes for pvp,
I believe the current stage of PvP is still far early (considering its beta version) as there’s alot to troubleshoot & pin point out what’s not working & what could be improved better.
Sadly majority of the players jump right in the wagon to implement negativity & just right away speak ill of it, while not realizing this is just the fresh new beginning of a brand new PvP & I am confident they’ll look into it to make it more dynamically fun & being right as best as they can
Feast was dead. And saying pvp is better now is very questionable. Most players I know share my point of view that it got worse.
And i'm not getting fooled by players entering due to event and its being new. We gonna see in some months who was right and who was wrong.
no, not without them overhauling their servers and the netcode which will probably never happen. just try to have fun with it and don't take it too seriously.
