Yes there are not enough houses for all players, it would be better to have a system what gives everyone a house.
But we don't have that, so the lottery is the best thing to have, all have the same chance.
OP, some more title suggestions:
Worst housing system since the dawn of time.
Worst housing system since before the dawn of time.
or
Worst housing title since my last post on this topic.
ArcheAge would like to have a word with this thread.
I personally enjoy how there's a housing "crisis" in a digital world.
Yea it takes server space, Yea I'll pay 10 bucks MORE a month for a medium.
Also, gotta love those guys buying up every ward they can, those guys can eat rocks.
Even tho I dislike the game for various reasons, take bdo for example, it handles housing amazingly and I think ffxiv could take a page or 2 outta it.
Let's go back to sitting in front of a placard spam clicking if you want to say what you did involves any sort of effort (outside of procuring the original gil for said plot...unless you paid for it, of course). It is absolutely 100% luck based now, "get good" is a choice of a take since it involves zero skill to push a button once to submit a bid. You could even wait till the last minute, scour for the plot with the least bidders and have other last minute bidders take the plot right out from under you.
You got lucky or benefitted from a plot that had little to no bidders, leave it at that. You can go to Materia and do exactly what you did easily with less competition (wards there are still basically deserted, including my own.) Congratulations on your luck and enjoy your mansion.
