What's your favorite song?

There's so much great music in the game that it's hard to really narrow it down, but I'm actually going to go with a couple recent tracks:
1.) One Small Step
As a huge FF4 fan, when I originally heard we were going to the moon, I started dreaming of a Soken version of the moon theme from FF4 (and I do still hope we get that in some way/form) and this is very much not that. But One Small Step is a such a perfect piece to really capture the feeling of being alone out there in the stark light under the black star filled sky. It's really very meditative and then the echoes of the Crytal Theme come in. Damn. I will say that as good as a lot of Soken's songs are (and FF songs are in general), I do get bored of them fairly quickly, but this is one song I can (and have) literally listened to on repeat for hours on end.

2.) Echoes in the Distance / Close in the Distance (Instrumental)
I know there's a lot of debate around whether or not the vocal version should play in the zone after you finish the story, and I tend to lean towards that it should be the instrumental version, but I appreciate them all. I will say that hearing the Echoes version upon first arriving there was something of a revelation. Again, just like One Small Step, it really fit the moment and area perfectly. I loved how the song built in layers are you progressed through the zone. That was such a magnificent touch. And I'll also say that hearing the Vocal version has actually given me even more of an appreciation of the non-vocal versions. They are multiple different songs but really do somehow exist in my mind as the same song.

To the Edge is still my favorite, but so many of the boss tracks are amazing. The new In the Balance is amazing. Both tracks for Endwalker's final boss. Shadowbringers. And the background tracks as well. I really love the music in this game.

Listened to both of those hundreds of times (while waiting for FATE and while crafting) and I'm still not tired of them. SHB and EW both have some extraordinary pieces that add a lot.

However I want to put in a good word for those songs that just put you in the perfect mood for the dungeon, and for me one of those has to be Tricksome for Wanderer's Palace HM. The music, the story, the tonberries.

Snowcloak also has a perfect atmosphere. It's always on my winter/starlight soundtrack.

Another obvious choice (even pre-meme - and watch the Primals version if you can) is A Long Fall for The Twinning.

Some others are Return to Oblivion (Eden's Verse: Refulgence) and Weight of the World - Prelude Version (The Copied Factory.)

And all of Alex is good but... Brute Justice!! Really any song in gobbiespeak is gold. No busydeals for the wicked!

Everywhere and nowhere.
I don't know the context of the song ingame because I haven't come across hearing it yet, found it while looking up OSTs since much of the game's music doesn't interest me but this one was nice and enough for me to want to save up and get a scroll of it someday. It's simple, oddly comfortable and a little sad.

In my list "Heroes" is tied with "Endwalker" while "To the Edge" is following right behind them.

Theres so many great pieces from the last two expansions though it's difficult to try and make my own top tier list.

FORWARD AND BACK

Although 'Footfalls' is still my favourite, I'm going to have to give an honorable mention to 'Close in the Distance'. That song/music was perfect for the setting and is beautiful music in general.

And I'll confess that I was a sobbing mess when I first played through that part of the game.
