The Final Job role quest involving the long term effects of the Final Days despite it being avoided and what it may lead to in future events....
While the final days is avoided, it is now made certain that people are still at risk to become Blasphemies. I can only assume the only reason why it is happening is because Zodiark's influence over the world is gone thus the protection of people turning into Blasphemies is removed as well.
Most risks are resolved within the regions of Eorzea and other places WoL can go to right now thanks to the effort of WoL and his/her companions but regions that WoL has not been to yet may have continuous Blasphemy issues.
Of course most of these Blasphemy issues maybe only side content from now on but it is still lore important due to this becoming part of what is daily life now for the world of FF14.
story wise for the last Job role quest....
Not surprised they use this to quickly resolve the last question involving Garlemald's fate and to quickly end Nerva's story as well so they don't have to linger on Garlemald for too long in 6.X era.
Still, I had hoped the side story covering Garlemald's slow recovery would have atleast cover multiple updates at least before 7.0 truely begins our new adventure.

Weird that it was billed as a kind of new beginning after the 6.0 grand finale, and a potential alternate starting point for new players in the future. It was actually more business as usual and a direct continuation of many old plot threads, involving many of the same characters we usually interact with. Lots of this stuff would make no sense to somebody who hasn't played 2.0-6.0 unless there's a huge recap movie. Good stuff though, a bit above average for a patch story.

Just the main story today. That was longer than I expected.
Well I have egg on my face. I was so sure that they wouldn't have us actually go to the Void in MSQ, that felt like something Unukalhai and Cylva should be involved in. And as much as I'm looking forward to where this story goes, I still feel that way. Y'shtola bringing them up makes me hopeful that a future patch will bring them into the MSQ too.
The Golbez reveal absolutely shocked me. I never expected to see him outside some cameo fight like Exdeath and Kefka in Omega. I imagine the Four Fiends will be our trial questline then, but what of Golbez himself? I expect either he or Zenos's Avatar will be the WoL's shard. -

On that note it was pretty weird the way the MSQ ended, we spend several quests making preparation for our big mission into the void and then just when we're all set and about to go it just ends suddenly. I get the mission to the void is likely too signicant to put into this patch but it was just weird, i was just completely taken about when there were no new MSQ and it said to be continued in the corner.
That said though I did quite like the MSQ this patch. it gave us some answers to questions like what happend to azadja as well as giving us some info about how void summoning works. and also set up some interesting threats for the future. Dunno why the hell they hid the dungeon name, that was in no way a spoiler but whatever it was a decent enough dungeon. All in all a promising start to the new story and I anticipate the next part -

we need to wait for Cid to modify the warding scales and Nidhana to make the artificial Atomos. Those will take time

As for how the possibility of SE giving players the option to start in 2.0 or 7.0 is a bit too early to tell now if that maybe included in 7.0 or not.
Reasons being that it is really too early to tell if they have already considered it or not. Along with how will they handle it.
However, if they do include the options to have players choose to start their newly created character in 2.0 or 7.0, I can only guess they may do a quick MSQ flashback summary of 2.0 to 6.X. Thus less work on needing to make alternate dialogues between a 2.0 character and 7.0 character.
OR
they may have 7.0 act the 2.0 of Season 2 storyline similar to how 2.0 handled Legacy characters from 1.0 and 2.0 newly created characters where a character that starts their story in 2.0 will be the WoL while a newly created character that starts in 7.0 is a completely different person from WoL. Thus even going far as to have a lot of dialogue changed based on the character being WoL (character that started in 2.0 and went through events of 2.0 to 6.X) or a New Adventurer (newly created character just started in 7.0).
Yet this will still bring up a big question what will the story say about what became of the WoL if they take this Legacy character path again for 7.0 since a newly created character that start in 7.0 will need a lore reason why he/she replaces the WoL. Not to mention a lot of dialogue variation between 2.0+ character (the Legacy character of 7.0+) and a 7.0 character (New Adventurer just starting in 7.0) -

Thoughts on stuff:
MSQ
The immediate confirmation that Zenos' avatar is somehow going to be involved in this whole mess was not terribly surprising given all the hints present in and outside of the game.
I was also not terribly surprised that the Scions almost immediately ended up getting involved due to the necessity of having them around for trusts.
The amount of focus the void is getting is almost making me wonder if they might opt to resolve the 13th's situation sooner then later, particularly with Golbez (?) and the archfiends seeking its redemption (Who I presume will almost certainly be involved in the trial series). I strongly think that either Zenos' avatar or a void-tainted Azdaja are going to end up being the MSQ trial, as well.
I do wonder how the other EW zones are going to play into things given that we already have a clear goal in mind, though.
Alliance raid
Not terribly eventful thus far, with the suggestion of the Twelve most likely being Ancient creations something that I was expecting. I did genuinely fall for their ruse of being the bad guys initially, though.
I'm hoping our research of their lore will also take us to the Far/Near East to explore potential connections between their gods, as well, though the whole Azim/Azeyma connection seems a bit muddled now that they're suggesting it was first-hand sightings of the gods during calamities that gave people knowledge of their appearances.
Role quest
I was been fully expecting Nerva was going to be the blasphemy in the tower, though I can't help but feel like he got a really short end of the stick to have not made a single physical appearance prior to his transformation.
Nero showing up simply because he wanted to go to the moon is about as typical of him as I would've expected, though him convincing some of the displaced Garleans to go along with him to make something new of their lives was an interesting turn.
Confirmation that the lingering fallout from the Final Days is still allowing transformations to occur also makes it seem really premature for the blasphemy threat to be declared done and dusted. Hopefully it doesn't remove the possibility of them showing up again in the future.
Though above anything else, I'm a bit annoyed that the Tower of Babil is still radiating that unpleasant glow even though we've sorted out the lingering problems there. -
