What is the point of Overworld in the game?

Always wished we had a weekly Wondrous Tails for open world stuff, a couple tabs for downing x# of fates in specific zones, a tab for killing a specific world boss fate, a tab or 2 for gathering, crafting, fishing, a tab for tribal quests and maybe a couple for hunts. Basically the challenge log but far better formatted and better rewards.

No point really. Apparently it's too hard for Square to design interesting and living openworld

Those are some of the things. There is also leveling a new job, sightseeing, crafting, side quests, squadrons/trusts etc. Just do whatever looks appealing to you at the time. I will say the story line lasts longer if you take a break from it and do some of these other things along the way.

Nothing really. I play Guild Wars 2 (I do occasionally play some Guild Wars 1 too every now and then, that's primarily for nostalgia) & World of Warcraft for that part. Especially Guild Wars 2 has a lot of things going on in the Overworld.

Well if you just do "this boring, that boring" like for example, fishing, then every open world stuff is just nothing for you. I know it's optional, but at least giving it a try won't hurt you know :)
