I said at least one because technically they might away with reusing Kraken for something besides what they have. They did that Halicarnassus after all. So it's Tiamat I think they'd definitely need to change. But they did that with the Warring Triad so I don't see why they couldn't with an FFI Four Fiends series.

I guess it's doable, but it would require a lot of writing gymnastics. But if done well I guess I wouldn't mind.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think of it, this may be one of the more likely options. When I look at what we have already gotten for extra trials and raid content, I see:

FFI:
FFII: Pandaemonium
FFIII: Crystal Tower
FFIV:
FFV: Omega
FFVI: Warring Triad
FFVII: Weapons
FFVIII: Eden
FFIX: Alexander
FFX:
FFXI: Eureka
FFXII: Dalmasca

So my best guess would be anything from FF I, IV, X, or XIII. And since EW already heavily features IV and X, I is almost the obvious choice by process of elimination (unless we are looking at forging into new territory with XIII/XV). It would also make for a pretty fitting capstone to the 10 year arc.

Also, looking at this list I would imagine we might eventually get some sort of Lunar Subterrane and/or Sin set of trials/raids.



I guess loosely, but I also kind of discount everything in ARR since the patch cycle formula really wasn't clearly defined at the time. And it feels weird trying to classify two Gilgamesh battles and an Ultros/Typhon battle as fitting the same mold as the expansions, which each dealt with sets of different high-level bosses from a specific title.

The Omega raids also tied into FFVI (Phantom Train, Jidoor Mansion, Kefka's Tower) and FFI (Temple of Chaos) as well, so they've already been accommodated raid-wise. And the Four Lords in SB were specifically based on their appearences as HNMs in FFXI, right down to including the references to Tenzen (who was a major character in FFXI's Chains of Promathia story). The next raid series is already accounted for anyway and is going to be FFXIV-lore specific (the Myths of the Realm, about the murky origins, history and reality of The Twelve), so that all but rules out a new FF fanservice raid in the near future at least I'm sorry to say.

And given part of the point of EW's 'winding up' of the original storyline was because Yoshi himself was tired of the whole Primal/trial thing (why else were the 'Primal' trial battles in EW not 'Primals' in the normal sense, but instead fighting

, with the actual "beast-tribe/people summoned-style' Primals just boss fights in dungeons?), I don't see any more special trial battle arcs being added, at least not right now anyway.

Plus we already have got plenty of FFIV references in EW with the Tower of Zot/the Magus Sisters, the region name for part of Garlemald being Eblan, Lugae and Barnabas's appearence as bosses in the Tower of Babil, the Moon and Namingways lorporrits, FFIV-themed tomestone gear etc etc, so I don't think we'll see anything really further beyond that.

But the future direction of the story now is a big question mark so anything is really possible having said that! :D

Pretty sure that, if they go the 'Four Fiends' way, they will do the FF4 ones. In which case, no renaming would be needed.
That said, I hope that, for once, they do something unpredictable. Something where it would be difficult to predict who the next 2 bosses are after seeing the first one...
Actually, since they are advertising both raids as being "XIV original", I hope they do the same for the trials.

If the concept going forward is Adventure, it would be cool if they did bosses from the Final Fantasy Adventure(or Seiken Densetsu/of Mana) line of games.

I know its a next to nil chance but some Seiken Densetsu mogs and A Rabite minion would be awesome.

FFX inspired Anima, Sin, Penance series could be cool. With Nemesis as the interlude solo instanced duty.

The storyline could be focused on working with the remaining Garleans/Legions to clear out and make safe that tower that's still hanging around.

Four Fiends would be kinda cool since I vaguely remember them when I was a kid and got the GBA remakes. They felt scary and powerful (except Kraken).

But in FFXIV? I'm not sure because it has a chance of being boring and uninteresting if they don't build up to it which is what the originals did (although FFI lacked a lot in story as well).

I think they might go for something original since the alliance raid is going to be and Weapons weren't well received, especially skipping over Sapphire for an instanced fight.

Personally I found Four Lords to be really good thematically and all had actual personalities with nicely done backstories.

There's no way it's NOT going to be FF4's fiends.
Ask around in Radz-at-Han. Several NPCs talk about another spirit escaping the Tower of Zot.
Who was the other boss in there in FF4? Right, Valvalis, the Fiend of Air?
What's the most unique thing about her? She needed a dragoon around in order to be fought.
Who's currently chilling in Radz-at-Han, waiting for a mission? Right, Estinien.

What escaped from the Tower of Zot is a FATE boss in the region, Estinien also talked about it at the end in the Rising Stones which got me wondering

FF 14 is unironically starting to run low on things to reference from the FF series.

But yea, with FF4 references a plenty, the four fiends seems like a likely candidate... But pulling the original fiends from FF 1 would be an interesting way of subverting expectations, and since they only need 3 bosses for 3 trials, Tiamat wouldn't even need to be replaced as she can be just excluded...

Blasphemies still exist post Endsinger, though actively hunted down to prevent anymore harm, we could have a trial series based around a group of them perhaps even a transformed Azdaja(however you spell it) the last of middy’s 1st brood.

Then again we could also get a trial series based around what Middy was guarding in the keeper of the lake
