Are japanese Datacenters really such paradises?

Every server has its issues

Speaking as someone on Tonberry.

1. No one's toxic, or it's a rare enough occassion because we don't really use shout or public chat. The Japanese are largely silent, and the rest of SEA follows suit. The only shout we do use is for LFG for hunts, or say for idle chatter in Limsa. Yes, the servers are polite. Being able to make friends is a complete fallacy. You get out what you put in, and that does mean finding an English speaking community and obviously building up your rep and goodwill for people to speak to you, but no one really cares where you come from. It's whether you can even speak the same language or not. We mostly use Auto Translate for instance greeting, and goodbye. Macros' for raids cross language are rarely used as the JP all state 'JP only' parties.
2. True, the Japanese have a different philosophy where they use roulettes once they have actually mastered the content, Not as a ground to learn in. This come down to them having an expectation you learn and practice with raid/trial groups before subjecting others to poor performance. I'm not gonna lie and say I've not ridden the coat tails of success and been carried through some basic, non extreme Eden stuff having gone in blind but been picked up by eastern angels. Debates or disagreements comes down to whether you can even speak the same language or not. The Japanese are polite to a fault. Doesn't mean they don't think you're an idiot and would rather not group with you. Especially as an Outsider.
3. False, while the economy is healthy. It's the same behavioural patterns across the board. If someone's got something to sell, then they're going to undercut whoever is currently the cheapest. That's just standard human behaviour, though there are profits to be made.
4. 1) Manners of the japanese,2) less use of shout and say publicly, outside of guilds or fraternities, while there's gonna be swearing every now and then, I've only ever seen it in context. ie. 'f**ck me, I accidentally deleted something I shouldn't have". Guild chat, all bets are off.

5. HA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh sweet summer child, how wishful the thinking. There is no housing. It is jam packed. Whoever told you this is spinning you absolute BS.

Final point. While there's a spectrum of receptiveness to outsiders from the Japanese, there are more than enough that you can confidently say that they don't like you, or want you there. You make them uncomfortable as they can't communicate with you, and you are from a different background. Again, they're not going to say that to you as they are far too polite. But that's the truth of it. They are delighted that OCE is getting our own DC as they want us off and it couldn't come quick enough.

So knowing the above, while it has it's good points, it's no the paradise you think. It's just got a lot less BS than NA.

There is problems, but people only queu up for dutyfinder if they know they can do it, the fact is that they prove that you do not need a stable static group to complete stuff with, which in fact make it a better game over all, as people get to see more people.

If this is all true, this sounds like paradise for most ffxiv players and exactly the ideal world they would like to play in, but if someone here is part of a japanse DC, could you confirm or deny any of these statements?

From interaction with JP side in FF11, they did creates a positive impact on NA community including:

Always find replacement for experience party.
Assist and help the new players.
Maintain a certain degree of politeness you will not seeing in any other western MMO.
Do not treat world chat as private chat and do not flood the chat in general.

Tell me you'd have culture shock visiting another country without telling me you'd have culture shock.

While it's not this "super utopia", yes the average player skill IS higher on JP DCs.

As someone from JP server for 7 years, I only can say, it's like how Kholusia residence see Eulmore, looks like paradise from outside, but nothing looks like it inside.

Pretty sure the OP made up a lot of this as some sort of weird troll.

I read this forum and sadly reddit a lot and never see most of these claims.

I've seen plenty of English speakers using macros.

As for housing, it used to be that you could just walk up and buy a plot, but it hasn't been like that for a while.

Maybe the OP saw Zepla's recent (today, I think) video about the new OCE servers and an older reddit post about differences between NA/EU and JPN DCs. It was an interesting video and many of the points in the reddit are true, but as many have said - it looks all wine and roses but if you could understand what some of the Japanese are saying amongst themselves, most non-Japanese may see how it is. I know many NA dislike the passive/aggressive 'think one thing but act differently' style, and we Japanese are experts at that lol ^^
