An ominous premonition? (Slight spoiler for the Studium quests)

My mind instantly traveled to that one pillar in The Azim Steppe. A few bullet points of note for why it can be another possible interpretation of one of the wedges.

•It is the belief of the Dotharl that throwing themselves into that crevice ends their cycle of rebirth, possibly giving it a link to the lifestream.
•Y'shtola does claim it as an allegan artifact to regulate the flow of aether, used to untether Azys Lla from its surroundings. Aether control on such a grand scale possibly being another link.
•An effect of this aether manipulation, leading to the area we come to know as The Burn. An area of "crumbling mountains and dry rivers."

A few other minor points of potential correlation.

•While Y'shtola does claim the pillar is Allegan, the pillar is different to most other Allegan designs we know, maybe suggesting the Allegans maybe didn't create it but harnassed it, with the pillars original purpose being for another use, dating pre-Allegan (or if you really want to connect this to a civilization who also holds the lifestream in high regard, possibly even pre-Ascian as well.)
•On an Ascian correlation, Ouroboros does have connections to it being an Ancient Greek name ala Hades and Hermes.
•The people of the Azim Steppe do reference it as a shard of Nhaama, whether shard implies there are more or it is just simply the Steppes belief is unknown.

That observation rekindled a hope that maybe we'll eventually get to plumb the depths of the House of the Crooked Coin as a dungeon in interest of trying to figure out what this new potential problem could be, since that's what I assumed the place would be originally.

There's also the matter of that giant aetheric confluence at Carteneau that while brought up in 5.5, never really had its purpose ascertained.

It also brings up the possibility of bringing back into play on what's underneath Silvertear Lake. While one could say it doesn't matter, this dev team doesn't seem to be holding back anything when it comes to tying up loose ends, and what Midgardsormr is guarding is one gigantic loose end out in the open. The way he "stabbed" that airship into the lake was almost as if he was "driving a wedge" into something.

If we're bringing everything to bear, something that struck me:

The relic is mentioned as being from the Fifth, or possibly early Sixth, Astral Era. Namono mentions that he 'serpent' in question to be a metaphor for the Lifestream. But on top of all that, an interesting wrinkle is that it uses an Allagan tomestone of some kind, or at least something resembling it. That actually knocks us a little, because it's not until the Seventh Umbral Calamity that Allagan relics were being unearthed enough to be found en masse; the capital city was buried by the Fourth Umbral Calamity, and the Seventh forced a bunch of them open.

So, we've got a few bullet points on this to help us narrow it down there. Now, we have to be aware that the source of the relic and the source of the language aren't necessarily one and the same, but the former does have to come after the latter, and the former also has to be in a position to be aware of the latter (since the Golden Dhaya is, appropriately, a Babel Fish but is working from a predefined knowledge of languages).

I'm wondering if perhaps at least one part of this mystery is Gelmorran. We know they had some knowledge of death and the Lifestream (although it's not clear how much since modern necromancers keep muddying the waters), and are exactly the type to use a serpent metaphor for it. On the other side, being a subterranean Eorzean civilization, they're also exactly the people I'd expect to have found Allagan tomestones before Dalamud unearthed them. And since they're both descended from an ancient civlization with significant international relations, albeit negative ones (Amdapor), they'd be the type with a fair amount of knowledge of at-the-time extinct languages. And they'd probably have vested interest in understanding some present ones, too, since they were living in hiding from the inscrutible Elementals.

I just want Gelmorra to matter, damnit!

I assumed that must be to do with Bahamut? Similar to the confluences we explore during the Binding Coil raids.

It's a bit odd that Fandaniel never tried to attack or destroy (or harness for that matter) any of the others, so it does feel like a bit of a forgotten plot point.

If we're going to see anything Gelmorran, those are our likely bets. Though of course those could also just be used for the new Alliance Raid entrances. Regardless, keep your fingers crossed.

If the story is FFXIV returning to its roots, the 7 stakes could easily be 7 objects of destiny that need to be collected/etc in a brand new story. I feel like we've already seen one of the seven stakes, as Khadga?

Khadga sorta reminds me of the Junon Cannon in general shape...how crazy would it be if there was a super weapon underneath all that?

There seems to be a premonition of something in the life stream or aetherial sea that shouldn't belong there.

That being said, the object Golden Dhyata is similar to an object that has been found in archeology sites for Ancient Egypt. So again this could be a reference that future story lines are going to cover African culture. Mercydia anyone?

But, it's also a considerable lynch pin in Ancient Astronaut theory that proves (to believers) that ancient cultures received advanced technology from aliens. The idea is that this artifact looks like a plane and is aerodynamically sound, technology that couldn't exist in ancient times unless aliens gave up that technology. The fact that this thing doubles as a translator in the ff14 story--aliens would need translation devices to communicate--and if story needs to make an even more ancient culture then that of the Ancients, they would need to be from space and pre-Meteon.

Furthermore, the conclusion of all the crafting and gatherering storylines also implies that space travel is the future of research. Would be convenient there was a older than old civilization to dig up out there too. Would be even more crazy (not) if the thing that destroyed their civilization is now in the life stream or aetherial sea on our star too.
