They can take the exact same measures they took when this situation last happened, and reset the servers once a day, during the workday, a little before peak hours. Flush out all the people who set up an AFK bot before they went to work for the day. Worked like a charm.


Yes, there's the argument that things are different now, and what worked back then doesn't necessarily work now.


Still would like to get SE to acknowledge the problem to begin with.

There are no non obstructive solutions to afk-ing. Anything I might propose would quickly become obnoxious for all.

Daily resets? That means being booted then back into queue you go.

Tighter afk timers? I hope you never get up from the pc for anything longer then five minutes. Swtor implements five second afk timer and tis so bad I am kicked when making characters sometimes.

GM contacting players who are idle in single locations for extended periods of time? This might work, though it puts additional strain on the GM team to enforce. It also means receiving impromptu messages from GMs at times for standing around talking in linkshells.

Limited play time per day? Please by the twelve no, this is not China.

Actual solutions would be not being selfish and logging out when you have finished playing like sensible individuals. I know full stop that those circumventing the afk timer will not heed such advice making this nonplussed.

I also know that no matter how I feel on the matter, Square's projection for new server hardware was somewhere within 2022. May this actually occur and assist in resolving congestion I hopes.

For whatever reason, seems like they're trying like hell to avoid daily resets. Maybe we're too crowded now and resets risk insta-crashing the login servers as everyone rejoins. Maybe "peak hours" are spread out too much now and there's no smart time to reset. Maybe they just don't want to do it again, or changed something and now it's harder to reset, or maybe they've just been busy scrambling to keep the login servers from being crushed by all of us.

Whatever the case, maybe probably they've simply had other priorities, and maybe possibly if this continues to be a problem when all others are reasonably solved they may consider it.

I have become less and less inclined to now log out prior to prime time, as I have been doing. After seeing some of the downright hostility playing out across the community. I hope nobody feels the need to log out early, when the player that may be taking your spot will willingly disparage or attack other players - even for them simply having a couple level 90 jobs.

I am not botting to stay in, but I may rearrange my schedule, so I am still awake and playing during primetime.

This is like people crying about someone own multiple houses as the reason for the lack of housing ...

If Square is anything like Blizzard, then they don’t even read/care about feedback from forums which are not their native language or home country.

At least in WoW the only forum where there was at least a slight chance of getting responses was the En-US forum.

And its the same exaggeration of the problem. Multiowners are not the main reason you can't get a house, they're just making an existing supply problem slightly worse. Its the same with afk bots.
