Not trying to sound snide, but this looks like another case of not paying attention/skipping the story. Those names being titles is nothing new, yes. Did you forget that Hades is Emet-Selch's real name, too? That's from Shadowbringers for goodness sake... released two years ago now. We never learned Lahabrea's but we know Mitrons' and Logrifs' as well. Nothing new.

Um, yes? Emet-Selch says it is his title, but his real name was Hades. We learned that much in 5.0.

I'm not sure why some people here are being so hostile(snide) or claiming that you skipped. You're confused at plot points in the story, which is very understandable and not strange. It's a long story and a lot of things can be missed.
For example time travel being established in the Alexander Raid, and this knowledge was used (with knowledge from the Omega Raids) to allow G'raha Tia to travel to other shards. This technology is found at the bottom of the Crystal Tower The Tycoon which can be fought in Twinning.

Both The Twinning and Alexander are optional content, and it isn't clearly explained how time travel and rift travel work in the MSQ.

I haven't played through the ShB story in a year, my memory isn't the greatest due in part to insomnia, and it's still obvious enough in Endwalker that it's a title. Look, I'm not going to rag on you if you story skipped (if you did) but I get mildly miffed when people claim something wasn't stated in game when it was, and multiple times at that. :P Gonna bow out now, 'cause despite what it may seem like, I'm not trying to pick a fight (despite one person's "hostile" comment). Again, just tired of people making claims that aren't supported.

Would recommend you to play the full game all expansions, EW is alot of dependent on alot of previous story... and final endings to alot of things...


So if you went and skipped all the way through or bought at jump potion or whatever and feel confused by the story and good bits of it then it is normal, I would suggest you skip through it all, and make an alt and go through everything... EW for me has been the best expansion of them all, the intro quests and the likes was confusing, but that is minor details as it quick enough opens up.
