(Serious Question) Why does the ffxiv community HATE Midlander Hyur Females so much?

my main has been a female midlander since 1.0 and i absolutely love her out of all my characters she is by far my favorite

and i like her girly run since she is you know a girl and all that, if i wanted a masculine run i woulda made her a highlander

I didnt experience any negative feedback at all. I was pretty surprised to see this thread to be honest.

Yeah, they look a bit generic for being the generic humans. I've tried playing them several times though, since they have no real clipping issues. Their running animation is probably the part I dislike the most about them. If SE were to do a graphical update or something, add new faces, or allow for different animation sets, they'd be a lot better.

Really, I'd have liked a playable half elezen, half hyur subrace. Like Hilda. That could have been great, and no clipping.

I will admit. My partner started out playing a Hyur Midlander female and I would teasingly say that - of all the things he could have: tails, majestic horns with gleaming scales, or cat ears with cool idle animations - he picked a "generic" woman. But I learnt to warm up to the idea TBH. Sometimes plain is best. No odd clipping with horns, no overdone body features (and he would have never gone Miqo'te). Just a slim strong woman with armours created to fit her. Near the end of ARR I said he should stay Hyur, she's well made.

... He changed to Au Ra female with the free Fantasia anyway. :D Lol.

I don't hate them. I just generally won't play what is basically a human female in a fantasy game. It is for me so much more immersive to be something else. I am a human female in real life all day every day.

Au Ra are way better than hyur. The only issue is SE not really accommodating tailed races. :(

Personally, I dont hate them. If I were to switch to another race I would most likely choose Hyur.

The only comment I see from other people is that the Hyur's faces need to be reworked, and I would agree. Other than that, I haven't seen anyone else made any other criticisms towards them.. So I wouldnt know about that.

I've seen the Midlander hate a few times. Though not recently. It was more around HW/SB days when the hate was more active. I haven't seen it lately. These days I mostly see Miqo'te hate if anything. And Lalafell.

I personally don't hate midlander females, they can pull off a lot of cute glamour as well as more masculine glamour options. However, what stops me from playing one for long is their dead facial expressions, their princess run which annoys me as much as the Elezen run animation, and them being pretty generic. Like someone else had posted, I am already a female human in real life. I don't want to be the same in game.

Chances are, if I was to make another alt that would be hyur, it would be either the male hyur with the stubble face option; or a female highlander because the highlander females look better than the midlander females imo. More muscle definition and curves, though I do dislike their standard pose, I can always change it with /cpose.
