I don't think the economy works like you think it does. That "5mil" spent trying to triple meld isn't pulled out of the economy, it's now in another players' pocket.

It's negligible, though. Especially if selling in the proper ward. Even more so if for extremely expensive items you sell via shouts/bazaar, which a lot of people do.

per item might seem small, but id love to see a number of how much gil they take out a day, i bet its a lot.

by gil sink i know most people are thinking of bigger items like an airship pass that cost 5 mil or something.

I'm pickin' up what you're layin' down, across worlds total could certainly add up. However, it's still possible to be completely self-sufficient without spending a dime.
