Slap em back! Or dote. Just do both ^^
It is rather strange that we have an emote that lets players strike each other, but I don't think the emote itself is inherently a problem.
If you feel abused... file a report.
Removing /slap won't stop bad actors from finding other ways to abuse people with emotes. Outside of /throw, you can also /em and enter custom text to do whatever you want.
It’s 100% about context. I don’t think it’s okay to harass anyone at all, but you have to take the circumstances into consideration before you just blindly go reporting people for using an emote just because you don’t like it and think it should be a part of the game.
If someone is harassing you that’s one thing.
But if people are just goofing around or being a smart ass then I think you’re bordering on overreacting.
Omg someone used the sit emote, this brings up memories of abuse when people would sit and call me names.
You have to see how silly it is to tie sth entirely different to a harmless act.
Now unless there is context for their intention, which is objectively sound in terms of it being negative, then just tell them to either stop, slap them back or ignore them.
You should be able to stand up for yourself against the person and the emote isn't inaccessible to you now specifically, but I guess your approach is to ignore and not stoop to their level.
If they are harassing you/stalking you then that is a reportable offense but from someone who is just being a tease isn't an issue and doesn't warrant a report.
There seems to be a problem in the community, where every minor issue somehow needs to be reported because it hurts my SUBJECTIVE feelings. You have to consider that there are others who play this game too and that their stances matter, so wanting to change/remove a emote because it doesn't cater to YOU isn't something that should be taken into account.
Also this is a virtual world, you're not held at gunpoint to stay there so you have an option to leave for a break to cooldown and come back, which would mean a different atmosphere if these people login during different hours.
Banning an emote over its potential misuse doesn't solve anything. People who want to harass you can harass you with other means.
